With fond memories we look back on our symposium Latent Assemblies. Last Friday FIBER, together with the Artificial Times MA programme at @Sandberg Instituut, organized a full day of talks, offering a space for knowledge exchange on the use of AI in artistic practices. The symposium aimed to explore various strategies and creative processes adopted by artists working with machine learning and AI technologies within sonic and audiovisual installations, performances and music releases. From creative workflows with multiple machine learning agents to alternative approaches to AI through philosophy and non-Western knowledge systems. It also delved into pressing issues such as ownership, copyrights, and artist income in a landscape where styles and aesthetics are increasingly co-opted by big tech companies. Central to the discussion were urgent questions about the future of AI-assisted creativity: Can we envision communal ways to organize and shape a sustainable, AI-influenced artistic practice? We want to thank everyone who participated within this event! Our gratitude to all the speakers who revealed their work processes, thoughts and experiences, and the audience for joining us!
