The ECPG is a network of motivated young pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists within FIP. The group was officially established in 2001, but early career pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists have been a part of FIP for many years. Our objectives are to facilitate connections and networking so that new ideas can be shared, and to open doors to information and new possibilities. The mission of ECPG is to promote the goals of FIP by encouraging the early career members of the Federation to participate in FIP projects and activities. In so doing, ECPG aims to develop individuals who can act as agents of positive change at local, national, and international levels, both in the profession and in society. ECPG’s goal is to connect our members and foster leadership within FIP’s eight different sections that focus on pharmacy practice, and the different special interest groups (SIGs) that focus on pharmaceutical sciences. Many of our ECPG members are already active in FIP’s Boards, sections and special interest groups. We also aim to support early career pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists from around the globe who have limited resources either for professional organisation involvement or for their own research

The FIP Women in Science and Education (FIPWiSE) working group is surveying to identify factors affecting women in pharmacy and related sciences, highlighting the lack of female representation in leadership roles. The confidential survey takes about 20 minutes to complete, and participation is voluntary with the option to withdraw or skip questions at any time. The survey must be completed by January 13, 2025. FIP was at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan (#COP29) this past week. 🌎🌳Rafa Al Khalifa رفاء الخليفة of the FIP Early Career Pharmaceutical Group engaged in key discussions on healthcare sustainability and climate action. 🗣️ Rafa attended events on mainstreaming climate change disaster risk into healthcare delivery, advocating for health and educational equity through intergenerational dialogue, health costs and impactful interventions for fossil fuels, climate smart medicines (particularly decarbonisation of HIV treatments), the United Nations' Climate Change Global Innovation Projects, and highlighting youth-driven leadership in addressing climate challenges. Rafa also highlighted the work of FIP to COP29 delegates, including its SustainabilityRx programme and promoting the role of pharmacists in environmental sustainability. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that is primarily bacteriostatic but it may be bactericidal depending on drug concentration, infection site and organism. Clindamycin is a bacterial protein synthesis inhibitor, which binds to 50S ribosomal subunits thereby inhibiting ribosomal translocation. Clindamycin is indicated for infections caused by anaerobic bacteria including respiratory tract infections and infections of skin, peritonitis, dental infections & soft tissue infections. Clindamycin may also be used to treat infections caused by aerobic bacteria, and it is used to treat bone and joint infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Lastly, clindamycin is also used in topical formulations to treat mild to moderate acne. Other indications include bacterial vaginosis, surgical prophylaxis, gangrene pyomyositis and pelvic inflammatory disease. Common side effects include Pseudomembranous colitis, diarrhea, fungal overgrowth, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea and it may cause a metallic taste.
