Day 2 at the Offshore Energy Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam! We're thrilled to be here with almost the entire FLASC team, showcasing and pitching our solution, and connecting with an incredible network of industry leaders. This event feels extra pertinent as it is just after Netherlands Enterprise Agency published the IMV-Gamma and NDW1A draft tender criteria. A key highlight: offshore wind developers will need to think hard about how their energy will impact the grid... #SystemIntegration is 40% of the scoring criteria for both IMV-Gamma sites! This challenge could be adressed with FLASC offshore energy storage: - providing cost-effective flexibily with no clean energy lost during periods of transmission constraint - making use of the same offshore space and grid connection of the wind farm - while increasing the commercial and societal value of the delivered energy! Drop us at message if you want to learn more or visit our stand 2000 at the event if you are here today.

Game-changing energy storage without batteries, tailored for offshore renewables.
Over ons
FLASC is a start-up working on non-battery energy storage for offshore applications. It is tackling a fundamental problem: the mismatch between renewable energy supply and consumer demand. Renewable energy is not stable and predictable and neither is the demand. Integrating storage with renewables can be a solution to this problem. It is the first solution tailored for co-location with offshore wind. It is based on an advanced hydro-pneumatic liquid piston concept where electricity is stored by pumping a liquid to compress a volume of air. We have now shifted to the Open-Gas Cycle technology, which embodies the latest developments in performance and energy density. No sea-water is used in this cycle. Using a patented pre-charging concept, and the marine environment itself as a natural heatsink, the compression process is optimised to achieve very high efficiencies, resulting in an offshore solution that is cost-competitive with land-based storage. With a co-located FLASC system, offshore wind farms can become an active provider of grid flexibility when using energy storage. Recent studies show that this can add 10-30% more value to the wind farm output by improving the way it is monetised. The FLASC technology is covered by international patents, received a Statement of Feasibility from DNV and recently selected for funding under the prestigious EIC Accelerator.

With the freshly announced tender criteria for #IJmuidenVerGamma, there are plenty of opportunities for #offshore #energystorage to support point-scoring criteria...and the overall business case of the wind farm itself. Eager to learn more? Come by the FLASC B.V. stand at #OEEC2024 in Amsterdam next week, where this will certainly be the topic of conversation! Offshore Energy

We are thrilled to share that FLASC has been selected as one of six companies to receive support from the Smart Energy Systems subsidy provided by the Municipality of Rotterdam! This subsidy will allow us to investigate the integration of a pilot at intended locations in Rotterdam. With this, we show clear ambitions to land the business activities in Rotterdam and to use our innovation for the benefit of the Rotterdam energy transition, in particular the link between offshore wind and industry. A big thank you to the municipality and partners for their trust in our sustainable innovation. We can't wait to demonstrate the impact of our energy storage solution for the city and region of Rotterdam, helping shape the future of renewable energy. Ondernemen010 https://lnkd.in/etRiXRzP

It was a great start of the day at the iTanks Pitch breakfast hosted by RWE! It was early, but the energy and enthusiasm were clear as many in the energy community gathered for the inspiring RWE session and pitches from innovative startups, including FLASC. The event was a fantastic opportunity to network and connect with others in the industry. It's always rewarding to see so many passionate people come together to share ideas and push forward new opportunities in offshore energy. Looking forward to more events like this!

Presenting the Katapult Ocean 2024 wave 🌊 FLASC B.V. Utility-Scale Energy Storage Tailored for Offshore Renewables Why we invested Offshore wind energy faces challenges due to wind variability and grid intermittency, requiring costly and inefficient energy storage solutions. Current offshore systems are expensive, environmentally invasive, and hinder adoption, raising investment risks and increasing the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE). FLASC addresses these issues with its Hydro-Pneumatic Energy Storage system, designed for shallow offshore wind farms, offering 100x higher energy density and improved economic viability. A Siemens Energy study shows an 18% IRR improvement and around €300m/year increased revenue with FLASC's system, accelerating offshore wind adoption. Exciting moments at the Science in the City Festival in Malta! As part of project SAICOPES, Tonio Sant, Charise Cutajar and Luke Aquilina demonstrated how FLASC's subsea energy storage concept works by storing energy in the form of compressed air. Kids truly enjoyed getting their hands on the demonstration models and it was equally satisfying to see them learn in a fun and interactive manner. Project SAICOPES, led by Prof. Sant, is being carried out by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malta in collaboration with FLASC B.V. The project delves into the open-gas cycle operation of the FLASC system. Throughout the project we are exploring the system using different numerical tools to validate the predictions made by in-house developed codes. The project is funded by Xjenza Malta under the Fusion R&I programme, REP-2023-004.
