Flora Food Group made its mark at #COP29 in Baku, engaging in crucial discussions on sustainable and healthy food systems. While climate finance took centre stage, we were encouraged to see food systems emerging as a pivotal focus – recognition that the Paris Agreement's goals are intrinsically linked to transforming how we produce and consume food. A significant breakthrough came through the FAO's latest analysis, revealing that 91% of countries now prioritise food systems in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) – the cornerstone plans countries develop to meet their climate targets. This represents a major shift from previous years when agri-food considerations were largely absent from climate planning. However, a recent WWF report highlights the work still ahead: only nine updated NDCs comprehensively address both sustainable production and consumption. At Flora Food Group, we recognize that achieving a food system that serves both people and planet requires this dual focus.
