How SME Innovation Vouchers are driving innovation for startups and scale-ups. For many startups and scale-ups, transitioning from lab-scale innovations to market-ready products can be difficult, especially when costly, advanced facilities and resources are essential for progress. The Foodvalley SME Innovation Voucher programme, designed to support these companies with subsidies for specialized facilities, has proven invaluable in bridging this gap, as demonstrated by TPC partners Alver World SA, Time-travelling Milkman and Cano-ela. They accelerated their business and shortened the time to market. A great showcase of the impactful outcome that can be reached when frontrunners join forces to make upcycled food & ingredients the new normal. Honored to have both Albert Heijn and MaGie Creations as partners in The Upcycling Community and part of the #UPcycled4Food Initiative.

Building regenerative agriculture partnerships | Business development & strategic communication | Agrifood enthusiast & coffee lover
This week, I had the privilege of attending CORE Days in Belgrade, Serbia, centered on advancing the region's ESG agenda under the theme “Towards a Net Zero Future!” The event shed light on both the challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in the Western Balkans. I was inspired by the momentum around building a climate-resilient food system and had the chance to connect with passionate professionals and agriculture enthusiasts in the Western Balkans. Keynote speakers, including Serbia's Minister of Science, Jelena Begović, underscored the country's commitment to climate-neutral technologies. The UK Ambassador to Serbia praised NALED for bringing together such a diverse group, urging practical and ambitious solutions. I was honored to represent the Regenerative Agriculture Portfolio on a panel discussing food security. Alongside esteemed colleagues, we explored transformative approaches to regenerative agriculture. Ivanka Stojnic from Nestlé shared insights on their work with 40 farmers across 6,000 hectares of regenerative farming. Additionally, Ivana Popović, State Secretary in Serbia’s Ministry of Agriculture, announced a new working group to advance regenerative practices across the country. On Day 2, my EIT Food colleagues highlighted efforts to finance the transition to a sustainable, net-zero economy. It was great to see Vivien Bodereau and Adam Strzelecki showcasing our commitment to sustainability. After just 48 hours, I left Belgrade with invaluable insights and new perspectives. A big thank you to NALED for the invitation and Todo Terzić for the introductions. I was also delighted to meet Koen van Ginneken in-person and discuss our Dutch connections in the region. I look forward to returning soon!

Closing the funding gap for Dutch agrifood scale-Ups Dutch agrifood scale-ups raise just €35M on average, compared to €84M internationally—a gap that could limit their potential to lead in global food innovation. At Foodvalley's Scaling Tables on Funding, scale-ups, investors, and corporates gathered on October 17th to tackle these funding challenges together. Leaders like Cedric Verstraeten from revyve and Jasper Schouten from 1-2-Taste shared how the Scaling Table helped them strengthen their business cases for investment. Investor Ward Heij from Polestar Capital highlighted the power of collaboration to "lay out the puzzle."
