We demand an emergency ban of Flufenacet to protect health and our water. This #PFAS pesticide is harmful for young children and it pollutes our drinking water with #TFA. 49 organisations from all over the EU call on the European Commission and EU Member States to immediately ban the herbicide flufenacet. According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) it is an endocrine disruptor that alters thyroid hormones in human health and wildlife. EFSA’s peer review shows that flufenacet’s impact may lead to developmental neurotoxicity, affecting brain development. Flufenacet is also a PFAS substance which releases Trifluoroacetic Acid (#TFA). This very persistent PFAS is widely found in Europe's ground, surface and drinking waters. The proposed classification of TFA as 'toxic to reproduction; makes it a toxicologically very relevant metabolite. We cannot allow this dangerous chemical to continue to threaten our health and environment. Learn more about the urgent need to ban flufenacet here.

We're joining forces with WeMove.EU to fight for a zero-tolerance rule on toxic mineral oils (MOAH) in all food categories across the EU! Many everyday food products are contaminated with harmful mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH), which the European Food Safety Authority warns may cause DNA changes, cancer, and disrupt our hormonal system. In recent tests, foodwatch found MOAH contamination in products across major brands like Unilever, Zentis, Ferrero, and Lindt in multiple countries, including France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Since 2015, foodwatch has been raising the alarm about these contaminants, revealing that even baby milk formulas were affected. Though EU regulation began tackling this issue in 2020, setting a maximum limit in baby milk powders, it's not enough. Consumers across Europe deserve stronger, comprehensive protection against these hidden dangers. It’s time for EU decision-makers to ensure all our food is safe and free from these toxic contaminants.
