Using 42 cards based on the IPCC reports, you will work together to connect causes and consequences, gaining a clear big-picture view of the climate crisis, and our place in it as individuals and through the organizations we are a part of. At the GO Green Office, we strive to make sustainability an integral part of life at TU/e. Over the past semester, we’ve made an impact through education, community engagement, and campus operations. Here’s what we’ve accomplished so far this academic year: ✅ More sustainable Intro shirts! By adjusting the amount of printed shirts and choosing better materials, we reduced waste and minimized our environmental footprint. ✅ Raising awareness for a greener campus. Through initiatives like the Circular Pop-Up, Clothing Swap, and International E-Waste Day, we tackled issues like fast fashion and electronic waste. ✅ The Green Room is evolving! It’s become a true sustainability hub for students, and we’re now renovating it with new expositions and a fresh look to make it even more inspiring. ✅ Introducing the Thematic Learning Area (TLA)! This new cluster of courses connects engineering with sustainability across societal, environmental, and economic aspects, providing students with eight distinct learning paths. ✅ Strengthening our Green Student Community. We brought students together through events like the Clay Workshop and sustainable activities during the WinTU/er Village, featuring eco-friendly crafts, candles, and vegan hot chocolate. ✅ Building connections and influence. We expanded collaborations with student organizations and played an active role in shaping sustainability discussions at TU/e. And this is just the beginning! Looking ahead, we’re preparing for an even bigger impact in the second semester: 🚀 Major events & initiatives – TU/e Green Week, Climate Fresk, and a Fontys Hackathon to spark new ideas for sustainability. 🤝 Expanding our network – Engaging in policy discussions with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Studenten voor Morgen meetings, and the Eurotech Sustainable Campus Development Visit. 🎓 Sustainability in the Curriculum: Engaging with the executive board to integrate sustainability into education, identifying gaps, and fostering innovation across departments. 🌱 Strengthening collaborations – Sustainable sponsorships and new knowledge-sharing sessions to further enhance campus sustainability. 🌍 Global collaborations – Representing TU/e at the Ghent Sustainability Summit and learning together with other Green Offices around the world. The Sustainability in Education Award 2025 🏆🧑🎓 Are you a teacher Eindhoven University of Technology who strives to educate the change agents of the future? Then implementing Sustainability and sustainable practices is probably already part of your curriculum. Since 2024 this is not only be recognized by your community and students, but also awarded by the university - through the Sustainability in Education Award! ✨ This award recognizes the efforts of teachers and teaching groups who invest in educational development and direct their teaching toward addressing grand societal challenges such as climate change, social inequality, and biodiversity loss, among others. This year, we will be awarding TU/e's most sustainable teacher during the Opening Ceremony of the GO Green Office's Green Week on May, 19th. 🔍 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗖𝗼𝘁𝗙) 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀? Last year, the GO Green Office showcased the Chair of the Future, a chair crafted from recycled plastic, seaweed composite, and mycelium to promote sustainability in education. Through departmental tours, exhibitions, and discussions, we engaged students and educators to reflect on the future of sustainability at TU/e. Here’s what the data revealed: 💚 85% of students are committed to sustainability, motivated by societal impact, career aspirations, and financial benefits. 📉 66% feel sustainability is not well-integrated across departments. 📚 70% want sustainability embedded in curricula, but large class sizes, outdated teaching methods, and limited real-world connections are challenges. Key recommendations from participants include embedding sustainability into course design, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and rewarding educators for sustainability efforts, and strengthening ties to societal challenges. These insights show the path forward: 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀—𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 “𝗮𝗱𝗱-𝗼𝗻.” ✨ As we prepare for our 2025 initiatives like the Green Week, we continue to make sustainability central to the TU/e. The Waddenlab is calling all curious and motivated students from all educational backgrounds (MBO, HBO, WO) to explore and protect the Wadden Sea! 🌊 In multidisciplinary teams, you’ll work together with experts, lecturers, and peers to tackle the question: "How can we keep the Wadden Sea healthy?" 🔍 Why join Waddenlab? 🌊 Learn about the Wadden Sea ecosystem and its complexities. 🌊 Collaborate with students from diverse disciplines. 🌊 Design and deliver interactive workshops with real-world impact. 🌊 Experience life aboard a flat-bottomed ship while exploring water, mudflats, and islands. 🦭 Who can join?
