Towards a fossil free university Since Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) decided to no longer enter into research collaborations with companies of the fossil fuel industry that do not comply with the Paris Agreement, a number of closed workshops with stakeholders like other universities, environmental organisations and the fossil fuel industry itself have been organised at De Balie in Amsterdam. Hoi Sophie Hermans, minister van Klimaat en Groene Groei, je hebt een openstaande rekening! Je klimaatrekening is nog niet betaald! Bij deze ontvang je een herinnering van de openstaande rekening voor het klimaat. Bij uitstel van betaling lopen de kosten alleen maar op. -> Wat is er aan de hand? De landen die het hardst getroffen worden door de klimaatcrisis, zijn het minst verantwoordelijk voor klimaatverandering. Zij betalen al jaren de prijs voor onze uitstoot. Het is tijd voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid. Daarom is vorig jaar tijdens de klimaatonderhandelingen (COP) het Klimaatschadefonds (Loss & Damage) opgezet. Er is dus een begin gemaakt, maar het gaat te langzaam en er zit nog te weinig geld in het fonds. -> Wat nu? Wij roepen minister Sophie Hermans op: houd je aan de belofte van Nederland om financiële steun te verlenen aan de landen die nu al onder de gevolgen van de klimaatcrisis lijden. Zorg voor een specifiek doel op klimaatschade binnen het nieuwe doel voor klimaatfinanciering tijdens deze COP29!   Sophie, dit is je Klarna van het Klimaat. Onderneem nu actie, anders zijn we te laat.    Heet jij niet Sophie Hermans, maar maak je je wel zorgen om de klimaatcrisis?
