A Reference Framework for Customer Outcome Management: The next level in customer-oriented Smart Manufacturing. In the world of manufacturing products, selling them and using them, we can observe an ongoing shift from concentrating on products themselves, via attention to service-enhanced products, to a focus on the use of products. The logical next level in smart manufacturing is a center-stage position for the value of the use of the products: the customer outcome. With a new reference framework, a team from Eindhoven University of Technology, Maastricht University, KU Leuven, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Eviden, and IBM proposes a standard way of approaching this business paradigm, mapping business-oriented control models to an integrated combination of state-of-the-art digital technologies to obtain next-generation, data-driven business.
