The Healthplus.ai team has been part of cohort 10 of the The Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, and we learned a lot from the clinicians, IT specialists, executives, external experts and everyone who freed up their calendars for us. We enjoyed hundreds of lecturers and conversations in the process. We can now say we have a clear plan on how we go-to-market. And we aim to aid as many patients and health care providers as possible in the future in the US. We feel and will stay connected to CSA. One of the biggest health care technology conferences, HLTH USA 2024 in Las Vegas, is starting officially on Monday. However, since this Saturday we have been part of presentations, discussions and networking activities since Saturday morning. We want to thank the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) and the participants for the great lessons and discussions. We have been a fan of the AI model report card for a while (a bit like a Nutrition facts label that you find on the packaged food in the supermarket) to clarify how the model was build, tested, monitored to add transparency and provide more clarity how it can be safely and effectively be used by clinicians. Surely not a panacea for the challenges of good use and transparency for AI in health care but another step in the right direction.

With PERISCOPE®, our MDR CE-certified software as a medical device, we predict the risk of infection after surgery for each patient by leveraging existing electronic health record (EHR) data. Sounds simple, right? But in healthcare, defining something as seemingly straightforward as an "infection" can be quite complex. Getting to the right diagnosis (the medical term) or label (the data science term) is critical to ensuring accurate predictions. So, what’s the truth behind an infection? How do we reliably find it in the data? 🤔 Our medical lead, Siri van der Meijden, has conducted extensive research on the various definitions of post-surgical infections, forming the basis for our current work. This insight isn’t just crucial for training our AI model but also for continuously evaluating and improving its performance over time.
