With the WEnnovate project, we’ve developed a list of recommendations on different topics such as cybersecurity: https://ow.ly/vcB350TjPU6. One of our key recommendations calls for redefining the role of energy data and considering the social impact of its availability. It calls to establish clear guidelines and rules for data sharing based on the specific source and role of the data, its accessibility, and intended use while taking into account cyber security and privacy risks. 🌳🌾 Did you know that integrating trees with crops and livestock through agroforestry can revolutionise agriculture by creating sustainable, productive, and resilient landscapes? Agroforestry can remove up to 0.31 billion metric tons of carbon annually, rivaling traditional forests, and currently holds up to 34 petagrams of carbon, equivalent to 20 years of deforestation emissions. In the U.S. alone, it can sequester as much carbon as removing 71-173 million vehicles from the road each year. Agroforestry offers numerous environmental benefits, such as preventing soil erosion, increasing biodiversity, improving soil health, and enhancing water quality. These systems create resilient agroecosystems that can withstand climate change impacts. Economically, agroforestry boosts crop yields, protects livestock, and diversifies farmer incomes, supporting rural communities. Accelerating the EU Energy Transition: Join the Interactive Workshop on June 26th and 27th! To achieve the ambitious goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55%, the EU is focused on accelerating the energy transition via an increase in the share of renewables to 45% by 2030 and transforming the energy system into one that is smarter, more interactive, and more flexible. This transformation is already on the way: via various legislative measures, investments and joint efforts of the European Commission and Member States. Digitalisation is seen as a way to enable consumers to benefit from domestic energy sources and integrate decentralised energy sources into the electricity grid. However, progress in using more renewable energy and digital tools and promoting local energy systems varies across EU Member States. To move forward, we need to improve the integration of digital and deep tech innovations. For it, we are mapping actions to bring us to more interconnected, inclusive and efficient innovation ecosystems.
