Meet Noortje Coenen! 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐒𝐲𝐧? I worked here during my first internship, my first real contact with chemistry outside of school. I learned a lot during this period, mainly because there are so many people here with a huge amount of knowledge that they are more than happy to share. I think for me, as a chemist, I will have many opportunities to grow and learn during my time here, and I am very excited to do so! But besides that, the people here are very welcoming, creating a safe and nice atmosphere to be in, which is also very important! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞? I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Science with a specialty in Sustainable Chemistry, at Zuyd Hogeschool. Here I was able to work at InnoSyn during my first internship, and I got an interest in Organic Chemistry. For my thesis I was able to travel to Finland and work at Åbo Akademi University, really cool! I delved deep into NMR and Carbohydrate Chemistry with my research there, learning from professionals in their own (niche) fields, and I learned so much!
