Exciting news! Our portfolio company Carbyon closed a €15.3 million Series A investment round. Carbyon has developed an innovative, patented technology to capture CO2 directly from the atmosphere. Their ‘fast swing’ technology increases CO2 capacity and thereby significantly drives down unit, energy and project costs – all critical criteria to facilitate large scale deployment. We are excited to announce that our portfolio company Nearfield Instruments has successfully closed a €135 million Series-C funding round; the 2nd largest capital raise in the semicon fab equipment market in the EU/US in the past 5 years! Nearfield Instruments is well on its way to become a large, global player in the #semiconductor industry. The company is deeply engaged with most major chip manufacturers, and its new QUADRA 3D chip metrology equipment is fully validated and deployed in high-volume manufacturing. We were the first investor in Nearfield Instruments (together with Samsung ventures) and we firmly believe in the potential of their unique high-throughput, non-destructive metrology & inspection solution. The future is looking bright for this one, with the potential to join the ranks of ASML, ASM and Besi Netherlands B.V.. Great article in Het Financieele Dagblad today about our portfolio company Nearfield Instruments . We were the first investor in Nearfield Instruments together with Samsung, and the company is now well on its way to become a large & global player in the #semiconductor industry. Nearfield delivers breakthrough metrology solutions that can measure 3D nanostructures during microchip manufacturing. This technology works non-destructively, and is key to improve yield in the manufacturing process of #semiconductor chips.
