  • Last week, we were at #ImpactWeek2024, wrapping up our week on Friday with an inspiring workshop exploring how storytelling amplifies impact and drives change by connecting people. Here at Makmende, we’re all about authentic connections and stories that inspire action. That’s why we’re so happy to share that our workshop was a success! It was great to see everyone connect over shared experiences, tackle challenges in impact communications, and find inspiration in the tips and examples we shared 💡 A big thank you to Impact Europe, everyone who joined us and to our fantastic team— Ivan Mikulić, Ivana Tumbarello, and Paris Carr—for making it all happen. Let’s continue the conversation and work together to create greater impact.

What a great start to #ImpactEurope! Being surrounded by people and organizations who genuinely care about making a difference is energizing. in the past two days, I’ve learned so much about how the impact space is evolving and the role new players are taking on in driving societal and environmental change. It’s a space full of challenges but also a lot of room for fresh thinking and authentic communication. A few takeaways from Day 1: * Only 17% of SDGs are on track, so we’ve got some work to do. * New players in the impact world (think pension funds, VCs, etc.) bring fresh ideas, but figuring out common standards is a big hurdle. * 29% of event visitors think that impact stories are needed to motivate and inspire mainstream investors. Storytelling is very much needed it’s how we turn ideas into action and make real connections. Today, I’ll be teaming up with my brilliant colleagues Ivana Tumbarello and Paris Carr to lead a workshop on how storytelling can amplify impact. We’ll keep it practical, hands-on, and hopefully spark a few new ideas. If you’re at the conference come at 12.15 to roon 5B. Drop by we’d love to have you join!

  • On #WorldTelevisionDay, we celebrate TV's ability to shape societies, break barriers, and promote diversity. Diverse representation isn’t just about fairness—it builds trust. In fact, 69% of NGOs use diverse representation to connect with their audiences. When people see themselves in the media, it creates deeper connections and authenticity. A more diverse media industry means more inclusive stories, characters, and voices that reflect the rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and perspectives around the world. Let’s keep pushing for a media landscape as diverse as the audiences watching it. 👉 Discover how we’re amplifying underrepresented voices: makmendemedia.com

  • In a world that often feels uncertain, storytelling offers a way to connect and share our experiences. It's interesting to note that while 66% of government communicators use AI to generate ideas, fewer than 10% apply it to visualize those concepts. As we face various challenges, we should consider how to effectively use our stories to inspire change. These narratives allow us to imagine a better future for our planet and motivate us to work towards it. AI can support our storytelling efforts, helping us visualize and shape the futures we hope for. We’ve begun using AI-driven platforms to create visuals that reflect these ideas. • We’re so happy to welcome Ivana Tumbarello and Franchaska Nkosi to our team! Each of them brings unique talents and perspectives that will enhance our mission of sharing impactful stories. To help you get to know them better, we asked: What do you believe is the most important element in impactful storytelling? Here’s what they shared ⬇️ We’re looking forward to what we’ll do together!

  • Let’s talk about impact—and how we’re sharing it. We recently dove into our impact survey and discovered something interesting: only 20% of NGOs use a lighter, more humorous tone when connecting with their audiences. And honestly, we get it—serious topics feel like they need serious messaging. But here’s the thing: Gen Z is changing the game. They’re making big issues relatable and showing us that you can laugh and learn at the same time. And honestly, we love it 💙 Want to learn how to connect with the next generation of changemakers?
