Grateful to have been part of 23rd Mare Forum’s annual Conference! A huge thank you to Mare Forum for inviting me to join a panel alongside such an impressive lineup of industry leaders and visionaries. It was an honor to engage in insightful discussions that spanned the future of shipping, global trade , logistics, energy transition, decarbonization, ship finance, and human (women) capital development. These topics are not only pivotal for the industry but also for shaping a more sustainable, secure, and efficient global maritime landscape. I had the privilege of contributing to the conversation on Cybersecurity — a key focus area in today’s ever-evolving geopolitical and digital landscape. 🚢✨ Reflecting on an Inspiring Experience at the 23rd Mare Forum Ship Finance 2024 ✨🚢 I recently had the privilege of attending the Mare Forum in Rotterdam—a pivotal annual event that gathers top leaders, visionaries, and change-makers to explore the future of our industry. From shipping and trade patterns to energy transition, decarbonization, human capital, and beyond, the forum was a whirlwind of insights and ideas. 🌍⚓️ A heartfelt thank you to Karin Govaert for introducing me to this eye-opening forum and to Ioannis (Jannis) Kostoulas, President of the Mare Forum, for inviting me as a young professional into this powerful network. I left feeling inspired, with a clearer vision of where I can make an impact in the maritime sector. 🌟 Thanks to my studies at Center for Maritime Economics and Logistics (MEL) on Shipping and Transport Finance, I was able to dive into the discussions with confidence, understanding the complex financial and strategic angles presented by leaders across the industry. 💼 I especially want to acknowledge Thijs Slavenburg and the amazing panel on Investing in People for leading such a forward-thinking session on attracting new talent to shipping. Sharing the stage with leaders like Marjolein Boer, Zhongyi (John) Su, Joost Bout, Mare Straetmans, Marc Buijs and Renze Boersema was a true honour. A key takeaway was Marjolein Boer’s powerful reminder that “only 29% of the maritime industry workforce are women”—a call to action for all of us to step up, inspire, and create more pathways for women, especially young professionals, in shipping. This discussion on gender diversity was echoed passionately by Katalin Dobránszky-Bartus, PhD , Connie Roozen, and many in the audience. 💪👩💼👨💼 Thank you to everyone who made this forum an incredible learning experience and a chance to connect. Here’s to shaping an inclusive, innovative future for our industry! 🌊🚀 #MareForum #ShippingFinance #MaritimeIndustry #FutureOfShipping #HumanCapital #Diversity #YoungProfessionals #WomenInMaritime #Inclusion
