Design with an Italian accent and soul.

Over ons

MEF: Ontwerpen met een Italiaans accent. Ontwerpen met een Italiaans accent is a somewhat playful slogan. I speak Dutch with a certain Italian accent and this in some way wants to prepare the client who comes to us... At the same time, the projects are also narrated with a different accent, Italian in fact, through the design of clean lines, a modern and elegant style interspersed with classic pieces of Italian design. Our clients are Dutch and also young Italians working in the Netherlands. We take care of our Italian clients, accompanying them along all the phases of the project and also acting as intermediaries with the different figures that alternate on the worksite. Our Dutch customers love Italy and Italian design, they like to stand out, surrounding themselves with spaces they feel identified with and from which they receive energy.

  • - I prepared dozens of estimates and project requirement outlines, often without even receiving a “thank you.” - I analyzed at least sixty property listings on Funda and created cost estimates for projects that never came to fruition. - I saw potential clients vanish when I mentioned a fee for an on-site consultation or when I explained that project timelines depend on contractors’ availability, not just my will. - I offered free consultations at the office, even on weekends, sacrificing precious time with my family, only to receive nothing in return. These experiences have taught me an important lesson: I am not just a "random name" found online. #architect #interiorarchitect #italianarchitect

I am not just a random name found online.   I am not "just another" architect to request a quote: a quote that requires days of thought, care, and expertise to prepare. The quality, passion, and dedication I bring to every project deserve to be valued and respected. If you share this vision and appreciate the craftsmanship and effort that go into creating spaces that reflect your life and aspirations, it will be my honor and joy to collaborate with you. But if you’re looking for just a number or the lowest price without regard for the care behind the work, I am simply not the right professional for you.   I believe in working with those who see the worth in a partnership built on mutual trust, respect, and shared passion.  Together, we can create something truly extraordinary. #architect #interiordesigner MEF architect

  • I believe that every architect has their own unique "handwriting." It reveals itself in their approach to architecture, their reflections on the surrounding context, and their choices, whether to adapt to it or challenge it. In both interiors and exteriors, there is a sense of coherence and continuity, as showcased in this project of mine. The classical forms of Dutch country architecture are modernized through a fresh approach to traditional materials. The contrast of colors and the cuts in the façades create openings that frame the surrounding landscape, making it an integral part of the house when viewed from within. Materials and colors are echoed in the interior design, where geometric and organic forms intertwine in harmonious dialogue. Even years later, I still consider this to be a project of enduring quality. It’s no coincidence that people still pause in front of the house, often asking to step inside and admire it. This harmony between “outside” and “inside” is, in many ways, my "handwriting": exteriors and interiors that speak a single language: one defined by contrasts, subtle irreverence towards the surroundings, and a seamless blend of colors and materials. Together, these elements shape the identity of the architecture while reflecting the personality of those who inhabit it. Enjoy the article! MEF architect #project #architect #villa

  • I am happy to share an article about one of my latest renovation and interior design projects: a beautifully renovated villa in Vinkeveen for an expat family. 🏡✨ This project embodies elegance and sophistication, where every design choice was made with exclusive comfort in mind. The article was published in Aa magazine by the Architects’ Association of Agrigento. While the text is in Italian, the images speak for themselves! Take a look and let me know what you think! #VillaRenovation #ExpatLiving #ArchitecturalDesign #Vinkeveen #InteriorDesign #EleganceAndComfort

  • BEAUTY SALONS The beauty salon for self-employed individuals is often located at home. A room available on the first floor, or the garage, adapted for this purpose, are the spaces used in the Netherlands for those who want to start a small business. In the case of my client, the small beauty salon was created inside a storage room, the kind you found at the back of houses, attached to the garden or terrace. The storage room in this case is a modern and welcoming space, made of wooden slats on the outside with large windows overlooking the garden. My client loves Italy: She loves the atmosphere of the Dolce Vita, the art cities, the food. And that's how she found me on the internet. Because she was looking for an Italian architect who could fully recreate the style and atmosphere of the land of her favorite holidays... The beauty salon was already furnished, the walls painted. It was missing a bit of the Italian touch that would create in that small salon the essence and elegance of Italy. So, I thought of a mustard yellow color block behind the treatment chairs, with black and white photos of Rome, of its lesser-known monuments. In front of the chair, however, a giant poster of a refined young woman shopping in Milan. On the left, next to the sink, writings on the wall in different fonts evoke Italy, the feeling of vacation, and the motto of the beauty salon that uses only natural products extracted from aloe vera. My client tells me that in her small space you feel the atmosphere of being on vacation: when the clients close their eyes and relax during a beauty treatment, they travel immersed in an atmosphere that smells of lemons, culture, and well-being. #beautysalon #redesign #remodeling #schoonheidssalon #renovatie #italianstyle

  • - When DIY Becomes an Adventure - In my career as an architect, I have had the privilege of transforming many spaces, but some stories remain particularly memorable. Today, I want to share one of these experiences with you, hoping it can be both inspiring and thought-provoking. My client, passionate about design and convinced she could manage the transformation of her attic into a chic hotel-style bedroom with a boudoir, decided to handle the project management herself. Her determination was admirable: she had a clear vision of the final result and wanted to involve only professionals she trusted, rather than a construction company specializing in interior work. It seemed like the beginning of a promising project, although I already feared there would be problems... We decided together on the mood of her dream bedroom, and she let me design every single detail, from spaces to custom furniture, with almost obsessive precision. Once the construction began, the lady, to whom I sent daily executive drawings and details of every part of the project, was supposed to guide the mason, plasterer, electrician, etc. The chosen professionals, although individually competent, had never worked together and lacked effective coordination. The client's independent management, who also couldn't read the various drawings, led to execution disasters and consequent delays. I was only involved in the project management when there was a problem to solve... The result? An interminable construction site, with long pauses between one job and another, many repairs of mistakes due to the lack of experienced coordination, and the erroneous belief that being an architect and a construction site manager is something within everyone's reach. Naturally, this caused stress and frustration for my client, and an increasing desire to finally see her dream realized. In the end, she decided to turn to me to resolve the situation and gave me the direction of the work and the coordination of the various professionals. With careful planning and centralized management, we were able to restore order and harmony to the project. Every phase was meticulously handled, with close collaboration among all the involved professionals. In a short time, the attic was transformed into an elegant retreat, exceeding even the client’s initial expectations. This experience demonstrated how crucial the role of an architect is in managing renovation projects. Coordinating various professionals, ensuring every detail aligns with the client’s vision, and promptly resolving unforeseen issues are fundamental aspects for the success of any transformation. Every project is a unique adventure, and I am always here to guide you along the way, turning your expectations into livable and enjoyable realities. #Interiordesign #Renovation #Projectdesign #Projectmanagement #Lifeexperiences #Bedroomdesign
