This post is long overdue but nonetheless I wanted to share that I have completed a 12-week 1:1 mentorship program with Wendy (Barbara) Morée ex-RVP from Salesforce☁️ via her company Moreequality.
Truth is, stepping into the role of Head of Sales was daunting. I had a team of four, each with unique needs and personalities, a new product and ecosystem to understand, a sales process to establish, clients to take care of, and a quota to meet—all after returning from a sabbatical. The transition was overwhelming, plus doing an MBA.
The initial months were the hardest. The pressure of the role was immense, and I often felt I was failing my team (even though that wasn’t true, plus, speaking with my peers who are leaders, I learned this is not an isolated feeling). I wanted to be able to be the best I could be and create a positive work environment while helping them succeed. Truth is, no one teaches how to be a good manager, or even a manager. It is a learn- on- the- go type of experience, that is why mentorships are so important.
So that’s exactly what I did, I reached out to a woman leader at Salesforce via LinkedIn seeking mentorship.
Those initial months were pivotal, and her support was invaluable. She coached me, boosted my confidence, and was my biggest cheerleader. She genuinely wants to see other women succeed, probably the reason why we connected instantly.
I am incredibly grateful for Wendy's mentorship and for my boss’s support throughout this journey.
Also connected with Nawres Caman during this time and her insights were priceless! They made me feel I was not alone.
