Yeah yeah, we’ve been shouting it from the rooftops for 12 years, but we’ll keep saying it until it sticks: 📣 the ONLY way to wipe out poverty in coffee-growing countries is by giving them their fair share of the profits. We call this #FairChain, and it actually works!! Since 2012, we’ve been roasting our beans right at the source, starting in Ethiopia and now also in Kenya. In that time, we've roasted 450,000 kilograms of coffee and served up nearly 100 million cups of FairChain goodness. We've left behind €3.724.000 at origin: cash that could’ve vanished into our pockets.💸 Roasting at origin is more than just a business model; it’s a powerful tool in the fight against #poverty. Remember, poverty is the root cause of deforestation, and deforestation leads straight to #climatechange. 🌍🌡️ We’ve got a blueprint for the #futureofcoffee, and it’s holistically linked to the health of our forests and our planet. The clock is ticking, folks! The time for a radical shift in how we approach coffee is NOW. 🌱 Supporting food security with climate action in Kenya 🌍 Agriterra is working in Kenya to improve food security through climate-friendly farming. Together with partners like Moyee Coffee, Agriterra is creating a low-carbon coffee supply chain that uses bio-fertilisers, compost, and sustainable farming to lower carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and help with rising synthetic fertiliser costs. 💡 Traditional coffee farming relies on synthetic fertilisers, which produce high CO2 emissions. Agriterra's team, led by adviser Daan Vreeburg, supports coffee cooperatives in switching to bio-fertilisers and composting, making coffee farming more climate-friendly and financially stable. 💬 Daan gives an example of a successful project: "Demo Farm is a regenerative coffee plantation where we grow coffee and other crops. The farm is now CO2-negative because the trees around the farm store CO2.
