We had meaningful conversations with a diverse group, including FMCG managers, R&D directors, food producers, and research organizations, ranging from different industries and even continents! These discussions highlighted a shared passion for finding innovative solutions for the oil and fat industry, whether it was by upcycling by-products or reducing carbon footprints, the collective excitement was unmistakable. 💡 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐠𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐝 We’re thrilled by the incredible response to our progress toward achieving price parity with palm oil! This process transforms upcycled, locally-sourced agri-food sidestreams, such as potato peels and whey permeate, into yeast oils. This week, our Co-founder & CEO, Lars Langhout, is a guest in the latest podcast episode of the Dutch series '𝐊𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬' of BNR Nieuwsradio. This series highlights remarkable innovations every week, and this time, it was NoPalm Ingredients' turn with our sustainable alternatives to the most used oil in the world: palm oil. 🌴 Lars explains exactly how our process works: we feed oil-producing yeasts with side streams from the food industry, making our products 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫. And as Lars already said: "As the cherry on top, with this process we emit 96% 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐎2 and use 99% 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 than conventional palm oil!" 🌍 Lars also sheds light on the growing demand for palm oil, a product that is, in itself, a good product but simply cannot meet 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝. "This demand increases by 4% annually, and RSPO-certified palm oil, which is more sustainable palm oil, makes up only 19% of the supply." This demand cannot be met, and with deforestation regulations, this can lead to higher prices. Along the way, some lab coats inevitably become victims of the hard work in the lab. But throwing them away? That’s not our style.
