  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 🌟 PEZY has 30 years of knowledge and experience in plastic development and engineering, mould making, injection moulding and the use of recycled materials in product design. We don’t just use this knowledge for great projects, we’re also passionate about sharing it with the next generation of product developers! For a few years now, we have enjoyed giving a presentation on plastic product development to first-year students. They are following a module on product design through injection moulding at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. The aim of the presentation is to show what to consider when developing a product with plastics and using recycled materials. This experience offers students a practical glimpse into the real-world challenges of plastic product development, giving them an inspiring introduction to this fascinating field. A special thank you to Jolande Mooij-Persoon for giving the presentation and offering a behind-the-scenes look into the world of product development. The jar of liquorice is well-earned! 👍

  • 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗷𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 💉 At PEZY, we are dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to work on exciting and impactful projects. One notable project from the past year focused on creating a hypodermic needle exchange system for automatic self-filling syringes.   𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 A hypodermic needle exchange system is designed to administer the same dose rapidly and repeatedly, making it ideal for vaccinating multiple animals in quick succession. Farm vets use this tool for tasks such as preventative flock treatments. However, manually swapping the needle after each injection can be time-consuming, and reusing needles raises the risk of cross-contamination.   𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 To address this challenge, Thije Greven, one of our talented students, developed an innovative attachment for existing automatic self-filling syringes. This attachment, commissioned by local veterinary practice Van Stad tot Wad dierenartsen, automatically replaces the needle after each injection. The system features a convenient magazine that holds up to 25 needles, allowing the vet to easily replace it after each set of vaccinations.   Thije: "To me, PEZY is one of the best product development agencies in the Netherlands. The atmosphere in the organization is really good, which makes it a great place to work! And as a student, it is great to work on a project where PEZY's expertise and experience come together with a challenging product that offers many challenges in terms of mechanics, ergonomics, feasibility and usability. "   Jan-Paul Van der Voet (Business Unit Director): “As a student Thije was highly committed to make his project a success. At Pezy we are keen on identifying these students and offer them a job directly after their internship. It’s great to have him on board in our team in Groningen.”   𝗧𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱... A follow-up student has joined PEZY to further refine and enhance the needle exchange prototype. We look forward to seeing the next steps in this project!

  • ♻️ 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 ♻️ At PEZY, we prioritize reducing environmental impact and maximizing material reuse in our product designs whenever possible. Reusing materials means not only creating products from recycled materials (Design FROM Recycling) but also ensuring they are recyclable and will be recycled (Design FOR Recycling).   A deep understanding of recycling processes is essential for developers to make informed decisions about product architecture and material selection. Thijs Feenstra, Circular Product Design Lead at PEZY, frequently supports clients and fellow developers in integrating recyclability into their product concepts. And what better way to illustrate this than with a hands-on approach?   At our Groningen location, right in front of our pilot factory where we test recycled plastics, we’ve installed five tubes that tell the story of plastic recycling-tracing the journey from discarded electronic devices to new granulate ready for fresh applications. A big thank you to MIREC B.V. and Lavergne for supplying the materials! ♻️ 👉 Get your copy of Design FROM Recycling - Design FOR Recycling: https://lnkd.in/erkMFG9m 🌱 Let's talk about circularity: https://lnkd.in/epXqfXBG

  • 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🌱   Last week, PEZY attended the Paris Packaging Week, where industry leaders explored the future of packaging. The key insight? Brand owners are in a unique position to drive meaningful change—especially with the 2030 PPWR compliance deadline approaching.   𝐓𝐨𝐩 3 𝐏𝐏𝐖𝐑 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 ✅ 𝘕𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘵—Sustainability requires a multi-faceted approach ✅ 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦—Simplify without compromising function ✅ 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦-𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴—Leading the shift toward sustainable solutions   The path forward follows the 3R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—in that order. Prioritizing reduction, designing for reusability, and optimizing recyclability will drive real impact. Minimalist, mono-material packaging is key to balance sustainability with great product performance.   While the consequences of non-compliance remain uncertain, waiting is not an option. PEZY partners with suppliers and brand owners to accelerate the transition to sustainable packaging.   💡 Be a leader in the change. 🌍 At PEZY we know. And now you do as well! Today is Circular Electronics Day! Why does this matter? Because every year, 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 of electronic devices are discarded—due to breakage, obsolescence, or convenience—leading to massive waste, resource loss, and environmental damage. Here’s the staggering reality: • 𝟲𝟮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗴 of e-waste is generated annually. • That’s enough to fill 𝟭.𝟱𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟰𝟬-𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀, which could circle the Earth’s equator. • And the number is growing—by 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬, annual e-waste is projected to reach 𝟴𝟮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗴. (Source: Global e-Waste Monitor 2024, UNITAR) As the 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵-𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥, e-waste poses significant challenges to both human health and the environment. That’s why 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 is so important—it’s a call to rethink how we produce, use, and dispose of electronics. So, how can 𝘺𝘰𝘶 make a difference? Here are five ways to embrace more sustainable electronics habits: 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲: Only replace devices when absolutely necessary. Extending their lifespan is the best way to reduce their environmental footprint. 2️⃣ 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲: Handle your devices with care, protect them from damage, and opt for repairs or upgrades to keep them functional longer. 3️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱-𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱: The pre-loved electronics market is thriving. Buying or selling second-hand devices reduces waste and keeps resources in circulation. 4️⃣ 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀: Look for devices built to last, with certifications and designs that prioritize sustainability. 5️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲: If a device can no longer be repaired or reused, ensure it’s responsibly recycled or remanufactured. Don’t let it gather dust—valuable resources can be recovered! Let’s work together to make electronics part of a circular economy. Small changes add up to a big impact. 💡 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿! #CircularElectronicsDay #Sustainability #Ewaste #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalImpact
