Over the past decade, we have developed a strong partnership with AstraZeneca, successfully delivering numerous large-scale projects across the UK and Europe. The People Hub in Macclesfield, our sixth major project at this site following the Macc Lounges, is a testament to this ongoing collaboration.   Sustainability was a central focus in the refurbishment of a redundant engineering building into a cutting-edge manufacturing support and amenities facility. Collaborating closely with AstraZeneca's Workplace team including one of their design consultants Taylor & Martin Design, we ensured that every design decision throughout the project was guided by environmental considerations.   A key highlight was the extensive application of reuse and circularity principles, achieving 100% reuse of desking and repurposing 36% of the total furniture, which resulted in a significant reduction of the project's carbon footprint by 43.9 tonnes.   Much of the refurbished furniture came from AstraZeneca's Cambridge site, showcasing how we were able to look across their portfolio and select products that could be seamlessly integrated into the new scheme. This included reupholstering Boss Entente units with new seat fabric and repurposing Boss Kara meeting room chairs, ensuring that existing assets were given a new lease of life. We take pride in creating something truly different, and the outcome speaks for itself – an amazing design and a very happy client. 🥳 For the new event space at Nationale-Nederlanden in The Hague, our design challenge was to craft an enclosure for the large meeting room that would capture the beauty and imagination of the natural world. The result? A curvaceous, tactile structure made from Planq’s Rezign flax panels – 100% biobased, renewable, and locally grown – which filters natural light and presents a fresh look from every angle. Inspired by nature’s layered elements, such as fish scales, bird feathers, and flower petals, we brought this timeless concept to life in an exciting way. This approach, seen throughout history in architecture and design, adds texture and depth to the space, making it truly one-of-a-kind. Most of you know by now that we have a new showroom... But did you know we also created 4 luxury suites  in the same building where our furniture and interiors can be experienced in real life. At Planq, we believe it is important to inspire in a creative way and to foster sustainable awareness by creating innovative products. Planq Suites was born from the idea of bringing a piece of history back and making it accessible to visitors, combined with a living showroom for our products. Same as in our office showroom, we wanted to maintain most of the original elements of this monumental townhouse to keep its characteristics, but we wouldn't be Planq if we dit not stir things up a little. With the addition of some colour (every room has its own signature) and Planq furniture, old and new came together and turned out a perfect fit. We mostly rent out our suites to companies who are looking for a nice place to stay (long or short) for their employees from abroad. The companies that choose to rent these spaces are consciously opting for unique and sustainable locations.
