🚀 Accelerating the Energy Transition in the Netherlands: North Sea Canal regional network for CO₂ transport gains national priority. This year, many of us faced significant setbacks in realizing new projects and infrastructure critical to the energy transition and a circular economy. But with the end of the year approaching🎄, let’s try to shift to a positive mindset and focus on the progress we’ve made. This week, the Dutch government published the progress of all major energy infrastructure projects across the country. 🔑 What’s Happening Across the Energy Landscape in NL? -Wind energy integration: Offshore wind farms like Hollandse Kust (west) Alpha are progressing with their connection to the grid, with more projects underway. -Hydrogen infrastructure: Preparations are advancing nationwide, with preferred routes selected for key areas. -CO₂ storage: The Porthos project has begun construction, and others, like Aramis, are moving forward. -Electric grid expansion: From Brabant to Delfzijl, preparations started for scaling up to meet growing energy demands. 🌟 The Dutch government, through initiatives like the Multi-Year Program Infrastructure Energy and Climate (MIEK), is prioritizing and streamlining these projects, ensuring faster permitting and robust support for execution. Among the highlights of these new MIEK projects is the regional network for the storage, transport, and deployment of CO₂ in the North Sea Canal area, a flagship initiative for the Port of Amsterdam region. 🌍 By facilitating CO₂ transport and storage, it supports greener industrial operations and contributes to achieving climate targets. This recognition is a good step forward! 📌 Read more on the progress of Dutch energy infrastructure: https://lnkd.in/ebdTnjsj 📌 Read more about the recently announced CO2 corridor with Norway https://lnkd.in/eWMTKt3i
