Optimising High-Fidelity Qubit Readout | QuantWare x Zurich Instruments Optimising qubit readout plays an integral part in scaling superconducting quantum processors. In our latest joint project, QuantWare and Zurich Instruments demonstrate how Crescendo-S, our industry-leading TWPA, and the SHFPPC Parametric Pump Controller form a high-performance solution for efficient, low-noise quantum measurements. In this joint study, QuantWare’s Tijmen de Jong and Nils Boertjes, in collaboration with Oscar Bettermann and Michele Collodo from Zurich Instruments, showcase how the Crescendo-S and SHFPPC seamlessly integrate to enable high-fidelity readout, optimising pump tone control and significantly improving setup efficiency. 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴! 🚀 We’re excited to share a major milestone toward 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 #quantumcomputing, made possible by the collaboration between QuantWare, QuantrolOx, Qblox, and Bluefors. Leveraging QuantWare’s #QPUs within an 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻-𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 stack—combining QuantrolOx’s automated software, Qblox’s control electronics, and Bluefors’s cryogenic environment—QuantrolOx and Qblox succeeded in 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 the #characterisation and #tuning of a 𝟮-𝗾𝘂𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗭 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 in under 𝟮𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀. This process would, until now, take several PhD-level experts up to a week of work. Automating 2-qubit gate tuneup is often called the “Holy Grail” of quantum processor development, as these gates are essential for quantum algorithms and fault-tolerant operations. This streamlined approach reduces the multi-qubit characterization time from weeks to hours, enabling 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗤𝗣𝗨 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 per year instead of just a few. Recently demonstrated at the 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯 in #Delft using the QuantrolOx #QuantumEDGE software on QuantWare’s #Soprano QPU, this solution is 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 for customers operating with #superconducting #qubits—drastically simplifying system integration and bringing us closer to 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.
