Bob Ponsen en Max Ponsen en investeerder Ernest Menten, startten GiG Hard Seltzer in 2020 nadat Max tijdens zijn studie in de VS een opmerkelijke trend spotte: waar studenten in hun eerste jaar nog aan het bier zaten, was dat tegen afstuderen volledig verdrongen door hard seltzer—simpel gezegd: vodka met bruiswater en een fruitsmaak. Fast forward vijf jaar: GiG Drinks, dat inmiddels ook limonades en ijsthee produceert, overgenomen door frisdrankgigant Vrumona. Mooi! Op meerdere vlakken. ‘Voor het eerst in járen hebben we straks een vrij weekend,’ lacht Ponsen. ‘Normaal zat ik elke op zaterdag op kantoor. Maar wat doen normale mensen eigenlijk in het weekend? Gaan ze dan naar Artis of zo?’
