We are proud to contribute to the renewed handbook for quantum-safe cryptography, a collective effort led by Algemene Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst - AIVD, Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, and TNO. Our team at Keysight Device Security Research Lab, Durga Ramachandran and Barış Ege, provided critical insights to the handbook. Quantum computing challenges existing cryptographic methods, making it vital for organizations to transition to quantum-safe systems. Keysight is committed to advancing security solutions that help identify cryptographic risks and implement agile strategies for a secure digital future. Congratulations to Aydin Aysu, Ashley Kurian and team on their TCHES’25 publication, revealing how electromagnetic side channels can extract neural network hyperparameters with ~99.91% accuracy on a Google Coral Edge TPU. This research highlights critical vulnerabilities in ML accelerators, underscoring the urgent need for stronger hardware security measures. I am proud to share our recent TCHES'25 publication led by my student Ashley Kurian! We show how to steal *any* neural network's hyperparameters on a Google Coral Edge TPU by leveraging an electromagnetic side channel with unprecedented accuracy of ~99.91%. Notably, we do _not_ use machine learning in our approach😊 Thanks to Google for collaboration and Keysight Device Security Testing for the equipment support. This took us two years of hard work and reverse-engineering efforts!! 💡 Why It Matters Our findings highlight significant risks in model security, demonstrating how intellectual property and sensitive data in ML accelerators are vulnerable to advanced attacks. This calls for urgent countermeasures in hardware design and deployment. https://lnkd.in/dMaRwmvS

Modern chips are faster, stronger, and safer, but their security depends on rigorous testing to keep up with evolving threats. Electromagnetic Fault Injection (EMFI) helps uncover vulnerabilities by inducing faults through precise EM pulses. The Keysight Bidirectional Fault Injection Probe supports teams by delivering accurate measurements to find optimal trigger points, offering precise glitch parameter control for sensitive targets, and streamlining essential steps for effective testing. For more information about the probe, click here: https://lnkd.in/gbyiWrgq #EMFI #faultinjection #security #testing #probe

In this months Security highlight, Marc Witteman discusses the topic of "Is AI Ready for Finding Security Vulnerabilities?". He talks about how Fuzzing tools are invaluable for testing open source code, but they aren’t foolproof. The recent SQLite vulnerability, found by Google’s Big Sleep AI, underscores the challenges of fuzzing large search spaces. Read the full article below.
