During the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, Robert Carr Fund calls for solidarity and action! RCF continues to invest into community-led networks, advocating for the rights and access to healthcare for women in their diversity, standing up against gender-based violence (GBV). Violence against women in their diversity is not just a gender issue — it’s a public health crisis and violation of human rights. GBV is a direct barrier to achieving gender equality, including in the fight against #HIV. For women living with or affected by HIV, the intersection of violence and stigma amplifies their challenges. But most importantly, we must ensure women have a voice in decisions that affect their lives and futures. #16DaysofActivism #EndGBV

The International Testing Week, launched in 2020 by the Coalition PLUS network, has become the world’s largest HIV and STI testing campaign! With over 70 participating organizations in 50 countries, it enables 10,000 HIV tests to be conducted every day worldwide. How does the Robert Carr Fund’s funding, provided to global and regional networks, create meaningful change for communities on the ground? Long-term core and flexible funding enables regional community-led networks to build the capacity of their national-level members, addressing the most pressing needs and strengthening the essential capacities identified by the communities themselves. In 2023 Network of Asian People who Use Drugs (NAPUD Community), developed an "Advocacy Roadmap" by and for women who use drugs in Nepal, which helped to build capacity of women-led community organizations, to establish tailored harm reduction services, and increased advocacy for #HIV and viral hepatitis treatment literacy, access to testing, vaccination, and treatment among women who use drugs. The collective family of Robert Carr Fund grantees, donors, partners and staff is shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of A. Cornelius Baker. Along with Sandy Thurman, Cornelius represented PEPFAR as a member RCF International Steering Committee from its inception until his untimely death. Cornelius was a beacon of hope for inadequately served populations around the world and a tireless advocate for the rights and health of communities most affected by HIV. The Robert Carr Fund provides multi-year, flexible core funding to networks serving inadequately served populations (ISPs) worldwide. The 2023 Annual Report highlights how this support is essential, enabling networks to sustain expert staff, build organizational capacity, and advocate effectively. Our data shows that 87% of networks rely on RCF funding primarily to cover staff salaries, which are critical for delivering advocacy and programmatic work. Core funding complements major HIV donors like the The Global Fund by filling gaps and amplifying impact for ISP-led networks. CARAM Asia, the only community-led network in RCF’s grantee cohort advocating for migrant health rights across Southeast Asia, is an example of such impact. Funded by Robert Carr Fund, CARAM Asia conducted 11 high-level meetings in Pakistan, addressing the lack of government budget allocation for #HIV and #SRHR needs of migrants. Through their advocacy, migrant health vulnerabilities have gained traction in national discussions, and the draft National AIDS strategy now includes a focus on migrant health, pending Ministry of Health approval.
