Wij zijn Royal Swinkels. Een familiebedrijf van brouwers en mouters over de hele wereld. Vol lef varen we al ruim 300 jaar onze eigen, onafhankelijke koers. Als pioniers zijn we altijd op zoek naar kansen en het verleggen van grenzen. Dat betekent constant kwaliteit leveren, voor al onze hoogwaardige mouten, bieren en alcoholvrije dranken. We maken dit waar door operationele optimalisatie en constante innovatie. We denken in generaties in plaats van in jaren en dat is waardoor wij veel dingen net even anders doen. We streven er samen naar om een slimmer, gezonder en duurzamer bedrijf door te geven aan toekomstige generaties.

  • At our subsidiary CereX Ingredients we find new ways to give brewing by-products a second life. Instead of letting valuable ingredients go to waste, CereX turns them into high-quality ingredients for animal feed, pet food, and even human food. A great example is brewers' spent grain, a nutritious by-product of brewing. Broos Swinkels Swinkels, General Manager at Cerex: "Right now, brewers' spent grain is mainly used as animal feed, but CereX is exploring how it could also be used in human food, such as flour and plant-based drinks. This way, we can create even more value and reduce waste." As a family business, we feel it is our duty to ensure that countless generations after us can enjoy everything we brew and build. We want to do business in a fully circular way, because we believe this is how we can make the most impact.   • How does a Brewing Technologist at Swinkels approach taste, process and product? We spoke with five of them from all over the world: while their passion for beer unites them, they also emphasize that each brewery is unique. 🇳🇱 Tim: "In Lieshout, we produce mostly lager beer, while our other breweries that we support typically make craft and specialty beers. This creates process variations which makes my work highly varied." 🇨🇺 Michiel: "In Cuba we work in Swinkels' youngest brewery, which gives us the chance to improve every day." 🇳🇱 Mattia: "Uiltje is one of the breweries within Swinkels that does not pasteurize its beers. This makes our beer a living product, which means that we have to take extra care to ensure that it remains stable." 🇪🇹 Melese: "Due to the scarcity of materials and the varying quality of raw materials, my focus is on properly managing recipe changes to ensure constant quality and that taste remains the same. We have this very well under control." 🇧🇪 Stijn: "At Palm and Rodenbach we make very specific and highly complex types of beer. That's how we distinguish ourselves."   • Finalizing the foundation of our new heat infrastructure and storage: important steps in our energy transition journey. As brewers and maltsters, we depend on natural resources. That is why it is essential for us to take action to preserve them. Reducing CO2 is a key priority, and we are constantly looking for ways to make our production processes more sustainable.   dirk wenting, Process Technologist: “We have committed to achieving net-zero operations with SBTi. Therefore, we are implementing various projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce natural gas consumption. This year, we will make the infrastructure in Lieshout ready to go to net zero. An important step towards our goal.”    We are expanding the heat network at our plant in Lieshout. This year, we are adding a second hot water buffer. The foundation is already complete, and by the end of the year, the buffer will be in use. It will reduce CO2 emissions and gas consumption while giving us more flexibility in heat management. Another project is upgrading our electrical infrastructure. By replacing and expanding our electrical substation and transport cable, we aim to increase our capacity for green electricity. This expansion will enable the electrification of heat production, bringing us closer to a more sustainable energy system.   • Workplaces at Royal Swinkels come in various shapes and forms, spread across the globe. But what is it like to work as a Senior Marketing Manager in the UK? Emma Harris Smith, who joined Swinkels over a year ago, shares her experience. "With nearly 15 years of experience in marketing roles for drink brands and a background in hospitality since she was old enough to work, Emma says, "It’s all I’ve ever known. I’m a beer girl through and through and so happy to work in the brewing world." Emma focuses on connecting customers and consumers to our brands, predominantly through activation in outlet. “The dynamic between the global and local markets is such a great driver for success. We've got this massive powerhouse behind us in terms of a global business, with a very entrepreneurial, hands-on team here in the UK who get things done with immense speed and flare.” “We’ve been busy making so many positive changes, but the most rewarding project so far has been the collaborative work that has gone into repositioning Fruitage by Rodenbach for the UK market. From the World Beer Cup to the Dutch Beer Awards, and from the Brussels Beer Challenge to the recognition of the Untappd community, we are proud of the many awards received this year.   • Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven - La Trappe Trappist vierde het afgelopen jaar haar 140-jarig bestaan. Een jaar dat in het teken stond van het trappistenleven, de rijke geschiedenis én tal van bijzondere momenten.   Hoogtepunten waren onder andere de introductie van La Trappe Epos, een 0.0% blond bier, en de lancering van de Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 50 waarvan de veiling uiteindelijk €31.000 opleverde voor het goede doel. Daarnaast was er een unieke samenwerking met Tynt Meadow en Zundert welke leidde tot de exclusieve creatie van ‘Three Rules of Authentic Trappist’.   Ook de allereerste trappistenmarkt ooit was een groot succes. Diverse trappisten uit Nederland en België kwamen samen en lieten de bezoekers genieten van trappistenproducten zoals bier, kaas, jam en zelfs zeep en chocolade. De goed georganiseerde proeverijen en rondleidingen - in combinatie met de fantastische sfeer - maakten dit evenement onvergetelijk.   Het jaar werd afgesloten met de indrukwekkende La Trappe Avondwandeling. Met prachtige projecties, een serene wandeling door de abdijtuin en proefpleinen waar de bijzondere La Trappe-bieren centraal stonden, was het een unieke beleving.   2024 was een jubileumjaar om nooit te vergeten.   • Seven awards for our beers at the European Beer Star! 🎉 Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven - La Trappe Trappist claimed no fewer than four medals: gold for La Trappe Dubbel, silver for both La Trappe Blond and Tripel, and bronze for La Trappe Quadrupel. Our collaboration between Brouwerij De Molen and Uiltje Brewing Company, Episode III: Trinity of the Sith, was crowned with gold. Additionally, Brouwerij Rodenbach's Grand Cru won silver, and Brouwerij De Hoorn's Cornet Alcohol-free received a bronze medal. At the European Beer Star, around 150 international beer experts meet to taste and evaluate a total of 2,360 beers in a two-day blind tasting. The evaluation is objective and based purely on sensory criteria: appearance, aroma and taste as well as typical varietal characteristics of the submitted beers decide on gold, silver and bronze.
