The ocean has lost one of their own. Today, we honor Adam Shostak.  Adam dedicated his life to protecting marine wildlife and creating a strong community around Sea Shepherd’s mission in Byron Shire, Australia. 🥁 Over 6,500 illegal octopus traps and 52,000 meters of rope were removed from #Greece’s Thracian Sea! Our vessels M/V Emanuel Bronner and M/V Conrad, working with local authorities, rescued over 571 octopuses and tackled #plasticpollution to protect this vital ecosystem. The Thracian Sea is one of the most fertile marine ecosystems in the #Mediterranean, home to endangered species and essential to the health of our #oceans. "When it was reported that three whales had been killed in krill supertrawler nets in 2021, we were told that this was an 'anomaly' and that the industry would take steps to prevent it from happening again. Now another four whales are dead, a direct consequence of dragging nets large enough to swallow a jumbo jet through foraging pods of whales while targeting their primary food source.
