Looking forward to talk about my New Frontier in seaweed farming: direct seeding instead of using twine seeded and hatched lines. Bringing this opportunity to reduce farming costs by using the #SEASEEDER, no hatching and directly seeded and glued at the final rope substrate. Seaweed direct seeding using the #SEASEEDER Just two weeks from today, I will be talking at #Seagriculture USA about the technology to scale seaweed farming. An optimal crop start is crucial in establishing a yielding crop. Direct seeding is ultimately the route to go when we like to scale a seaweed farm from a few hectares to a square kilometer or more. Direct seeding allows the seeding process to be mechanized efficiently. The #SEASEEDER that #SEAWISER develops is ready for the market, tested thoroughly and has been demonstrated to be a robust machine. SEASEEDER at Seagriculture! The #Seagriculture Conference is about to start at the Faroe Islands. During the tour you will certainly see some ropes seeded with the #SEASEEDER. SEASEEDER for 2-step direct seeding of kelps and other species? Over the last few years, we developed the SEASEEDER, the first and unique precision seeding machine for kelp juvenile sporophytes and gametophytes. The machine is dosing, with high precision, a small volume of fluid on the rope surface and spreading this nicely around the rope, securing a good distribution of the seed. In the second step, the glue is dosed with the same precisiness. The standard machine seeds about 1 km rope/hr. After successfully testing the machines in practice, we have started to sell them globally. We are glad to inform you about price and delivery time, but surely we could deliver already timely before the next seeding season! We are interested to know if beside kelps, other species are considered to be seeded using the direct seeding technique. We expect that any small propagule, smaller than 1-2 mm, could be seeded in this way: Asparagopsis, Palmaria and many others. We would be glad to do test runs with the machine and make this work!
