🌍 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 📅 On 27 February, SNV CEO Simon O'Connell will be at the Finance in Common Summit 2025, in conversation with key European development actors and partners. 📈 Presently, the development financing gap is staggering. Within the broader framework of declining #GlobalCooperation and deepening crises, what’s missing is the bridge between public ambition and investable projects. In a roundtable titled 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the side-event is co-organised by JEFIC, European Investment Bank (EIB), European DFIs - EDFI, FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and Practitioners' Network for European Development Cooperation—with a focus on how innovative finance can drive lasting change. 🤝 Through collaborative initiatives like the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD), we know that when public and private actors work together, it is possible to create the conditions for markets to evolve and deliver sustainable impact. 💬 This session will dive into the practical side of market creation—what’s working, what’s not, and how we close the gap. #SNVImpactThatMatters #FiCSSummit2025 #TeamEurope #SustainableGrowth #GlobalGateway #FinancingTheFuture #ClimateAdaptation

Over ons
SNV is a global development partner, deeply rooted in the countries where we operate. We are driven by a vision of a better world: A world where across every society all people live with dignity and have equitable opportunities to thrive sustainably. To make this vision a reality, we need transformations in vital agri-food, energy, and water systems. SNV contributes by strengthening capacities and catalysing partnerships in these sectors. We help strengthen institutions and effective governance, reduce gender inequalities and barriers to social inclusion, and enable adaptation and mitigation to the climate and biodiversity crises. Building on 60 years of experience we support our partners with our technical and process expertise and methodological rigour. We do this in more than 20 countries in Africa and Asia with a team of approximately 1,600 colleagues. By being adaptable and tailoring our approaches to these different contexts, we can contribute to impact at scale, resulting in more equitable lives for all.

Last week, SNV and Forest Carbon came together with partners in Jakarta to sign an agreement to work together on managing forests in a way that adapts to climate change and protects biodiversity. The blended finance instrument designed with DFCD support will quickly fund the protection and management of more than 300,000 hectares of critical ecosystems in Indonesia, and help the company expand internationally to the Philippines and Bhutan. With support from SNV through DFCD’s Origination Facility, and with full investment, this blended finance instrument is expected to lead to: ✔️ Restore forests and wetlands vital for biodiversity 🌳🌲 ✔️ Mitigate 4.2 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually 🌍 ✔️ Improve livelihoods for over 23,000 people, including local and indigenous communities 🤝 💬 “By funding key elements of the green bond design, we are able to launch a structured finance model that can be scaled across our sector,” said Jeffrey Chatellier, CEO of Forest Carbon. 💬 “This partnership aligns with DFCD’s mission to de-risk and unlock high-impact investments in climate and biodiversity projects,” said Alex Downs, Business and Investment Officer at SNV. 💡 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆'𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗶. For refugees and host communities, access to clean energy is more than a necessity - it’s an enabler of economic growth, better health, and improved livelihoods. A new case study highlights how the Market-Based Energy Access (MBEA) III Project, funded by Energising Development (EnDev) and implemented by SNV, is making a difference in Kakuma Refugee Camp, the Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement, and surrounding communities. By strengthening local energy markets and improving access to renewable energy, the project has: ✅ Enabled 𝟭𝟴,𝟬𝟬𝟬 people to access clean cooking solutions. ✅ Improved electricity access for 𝟴,𝟬𝟬𝟬 people. ✅ Supported local businesses and 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Sustainable energy access is key to driving social and economic progress in displacement settings. But to ensure long-term impact, accessible financing, community collaboration, and user education are essential. 📖 To learn more and download the full case study: https://lnkd.in/dsDRH_EY #EnergyAccess #SustainableDevelopment #SNVImpactThatMatters #CleanCooking

🐄 Sustainable dairy farming is positively impacting lives in East Africa. It strengthens children's right to food, providing them with a strong start in life, and offering a crucial safety net for the future.☀️ 🥛 Through SNV’s BRIDGE+ project in Ethiopia, more than 160 schools now have access to school milk. This initiative is improving student attendance and promoting gender equity in education. ⬆️ 🌱 In Uganda, the Towards Inclusive Dairy Enterprise (TIDE) project has made a remarkable contribution to the country’s school programme. Between 2015 and 2023, TIDE established a parent-led school milk programme in 2,482 schools, reaching over 990,000 children with improved nutrition and supporting low-income families.🤝 📌 These school milk programmes are also driving significant progress in dairy farming across the region.
