Today, we proudly welcomed European stakeholders to the EQUANS Hoboken yard, where our platform for the Hollandse Kust West Beta offshore grid connection is under construction, connecting the RWE offshore wind farm to the Dutch electricity grid. Some dimensions of the beauty: 25 metres high and 3,500 tonnes of weight. Following a safety briefing, we toured the 700 MW platform, the heart of this grid connection. The platform will be installed in the Dutch North Sea in spring 2025. Participants included representatives from the European Parliament, European Commission (DG ENER), NATO, the German Permanent Representation and VNO-NCW, who engaged in meaningful discussions about the challenges and opportunities surrounding European offshore grid development, security aspects, need for strategic autonomy of European yards/ports and the next generation of offshore grid connections (journey from 700MW to 2GW). Cross-Border Exchange – Our #Trainee Gains Valuable Experience with a European TSO 🌍 To ensure the European #grid remains stable and #future-proof, international exchange is essential. That's why we're thrilled that our trainee, Yannick Haase, had the opportunity to work for three months at one of the European TSOs, Elia Group, in Brussels. 📋 Yannick collaborated with his colleagues to develop a procurement strategy for a specific category. He also served as the primary contact for an external consultant on a market study and facilitated knowledge exchange among procurement colleagues. Alongside insights into cable procurement, Yannick expanded his skills in stakeholder management and cultural awareness. Additionally, he gained valuable insights into potential improvements for the TenneT Trainee Program by incorporating best practices from both sides. 🌍 This project strengthens mutual exchange and fosters long-term collaboration between Elia and TenneT – an investment in future cross-border partnerships. Connecting with Elia trainees also allowed us to reinforce our shared trainee network through activities like axe throwing, soccer, and padel matches. 🗨️ “I can't recommend the TenneT Trainee program highly enough! I've learned so much in such a short time, and the extra training sessions have been invaluable. I've had the chance to work at different TenneT locations and even be the "pilot" for this exchange! And of course, I've made many new and valuable friendships along the way.", said Yannick. It's not only about rapid infrastructure expansion - it’s also about building trust and collaboration with communities every step of the way. Key elements of the pact include: 1️⃣  Clear communication on the role of grid infrastructure in enabling the energy transition. 2️⃣  Joint efforts across local and national levels to ensure efficient project permitting. 3️⃣ Stronger regional cooperation to prioritize critical grid projects. 4️⃣ Consistent stakeholder engagement supported by regulatory bodies. 5️⃣ Aligned organizational support across all parties involved to meet grid deployment needs.
