    🌍 Reflecting on “Measure What Matters” 🌟 As we begin the new year, we're excited to share the final report and fact sheets from our "Measure What Matters" initiative in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam. This work brings together key insights and strategies on how wellbeing-focused economic frameworks can reshape policies and create more inclusive, people-centered economies. Over the course of three learning sessions, we worked with a diverse group of researchers, practitioners, and advocates to tackle key questions: 💡 How can wellbeing indicators be developed collaboratively with communities? 📊 How do we embed these frameworks into policy and decision-making? 🤝 How can they drive action to meet the needs of underserved groups?     🌍 SDG Interactions Co-learning event report is out now! On November 13, we brought together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners at the Co-Learning Event on “SDG Interactions and Policy Interventions in Developing Countries.” The event, a milestone in the SDG Interactions Research Programme funded by the Dutch Research Council NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek), fostered discussions on how sustainable development goals (SDGs) interact—and how these interactions shape policy and practice.     Fresh off the press: How can wellbeing measurement frameworks be structurally embedded in policy practice? 📑 Find the key insights of our last learning session in the attached Factsheet. Participants exchanged about their challenges & strategies in collaborating with policymakers to adopt wellbeing measurements in their work. Jennifer van Beek & Nicky Pouw identified the issues of ownership, securing long-term commitment & structural support and the mismatch of wellbeing economics methods with current policy practices. Marina Gattás from the Wellbeing Economy Alliance discussed how Brazil has co-created its National Impact Economy Strategy in a participatory process with civil society representatives.     Last week, the Knowledge Brokering and Synthesis team wrapped up an impactful co-learning event as part of the SDG Interactions Programme by NWO (Dutch Research Council). The event brought together diverse perspectives to discuss the critical themes of SDG interactions, policy coherence, and inclusive development across the research projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, and Bangladesh. 🎯 Key Highlights: ➡️ Inspiring keynotes by Charles Obugre (IDEAS, Ghana) and Naomi Hossain (SOAS, London) provided critical insights on the debt crisis in Africa and the importance of SDG 16 (Peace & Justice) for sustainable development. ➡️ Thematic breakout sessions facilitated in-depth discussions on challenges and opportunities in aligning sustainable development goals with the realities on the ground. A heartfelt thank you to the participants, speakers, and organisers for making this event a success! Soon an event report will be available summarising the key insights from the day.     🌍 Exciting Update on the SDG Interactions project🌱 The fourth and last two-pager highlighting the intermediate findings from the research projects within the SDG Interactions and Policy Interventions programme of NWO (Dutch Research Council) is out now! As knowledge brokers we aim to make their research more accessible and actionable for policymakers, stakeholders, and practitioners. 🌐 The two-pager dives into the intermediate findings on how women’s empowerment can lead to improved food and nutrition security by Robert Lensink's research team at University of Groningen. 📄 Intermediate findings of this project focus on: - Bangladesh: how social independence, agency, and medical care can positively impact children's health and nutrition (SDGs 5, 2, 3). - Sub-Saharan Africa: women's empowerment correlates with lower child mortality, better nutrition, and improved health. - Restrictive gender norms, such as child marriage, hinder progress on gender equality, food security, and child health.
