🥳 #KBW2024 Korea Blockchain Week lived up to its high expectations as Asia’s most impactful #blockchain conference 🇰🇷 Who’s who in the crypto world were in #Seoul this week as crowds from Canada to Colombia to China mingled in the hundreds of venues and side events across the city. 👀 Few observations 📍 Korea has amazing talent in the technical space but demographics is worrisome, with the world’s lowest fertility rate of 0.72 (as of 2023). This is in spite of the government spending over $270 billion the last 18 years to combat this issue. 🖊️ Note to self: Remind Jaehun, Siwon, Daniel, Charles and Hyerim to have more babies 📍Having visited Seoul more than a dozen times in the last 28 years, I have noticed the city is still not as “foreigner friendly”, vis-à-vis other Asian capitals like #Tokyo or #Taipei. Yes, the city has improved in efficiency since my first visit in 1996, but navigating without Hangugeo and you’d still be stuck - Google map is non-functional and Uber service vastly inferior. NAVER Corp and Kakao Corp apps are still not user-friendly for foreign visitors. 🖊️ Note to self: Contact Ms. 高永娥 and restart weekly 한국어 lessons 📍#Walkerhill is a great place to chill (and a great wedding venue) but awfully inefficient to host international events like #KBW. Transportation to and fro from #Gangnam and #Apgujeong can be a real nightmare.
