I published an article for The Contrapuntal on the important issue of land-grabbing in Cambodia. The content of this piece is based on personal interviews I conducted with residents of Beoung Tamok Lake in Cambodia during March 2023. To ensure accuracy and relevance, the article has been supplemented with updated information as of February 2024. I am deeply grateful to the individuals who shared their personal stories with vulnerability and allowed their photographs to be taken. “I have to fight for this house, this land, this shelter for my children. We live in fear of eviction at any moment,” said a 44-year-old resident, Prak Sophea, who lived on this land for over 20 years. An Artist’s Ode to Regenerative Mourning | "At the core of the project are 35 videos recorded with a 360º camera in four Peruvian Amazonian communities (Unipacuyacu, Nuevo Amanecer Hawaii, Sinchi Roca, and Puerto Nuevo) affected by the assassination of indigenous leaders and environmental defenders. In legitimization of oppression of Other women, imperial feminism, look at the Native American, African-American, Black, and Muslim women as the racialized Other, in need of being ‘saved’. Here the White women and other women in service of the empire (the United States and allies) look at the ‘liberated Muslim woman’ as an empty category— meaning that no Muslim woman is liberated and that liberated women cease to be Muslim because they become incorporated into the fold of Whiteness and modernity.
