BIG near-miss this weekend. My wife and I were eating dinner in town, when all of a sudden she looks down at her engagement ring and says "the diamond is gone!". Long-story-short, the "chaton" had snapped on one of her pockets, thankfully going no farther than her leg and onto the floor, but wow... Stuff of nightmares, right? Right after, I messaged Alon Ben Joseph who gave me some advice on proper jewelry maintenance, because he's your friendly neighborhood jeweler and that's just what he does (you should also drop him a line for your jewelry needs and wants). Anyways, in addition to being super helpful he's also super fun to speak with about watches, and that's what we did on the latest episode of The Real Time Show. "Super brand". That's a pretty loaded term, especially for a brand whose age can be counted in mere years rather than centuries. But what if I told you that Renaud Tixier was the brainchild of the legendary watchmaker Dominique Renaud (yes, that "Renaud" of Renaud et Papi, which has powered Audemars Piguet to its current stratospheric heights), and Julien Tixier, one of the most capable watchmakers of this current, already very talented, generation? Well... Then "super brand" doesn't seem so crazy. The Real Time Show is now 2 years old! I owe a lot to your friendly neighborhood watchmaker Rob Nudds and your friendly neighborhood jeweler Alon Ben Joseph as they are among the tiny, tiny handful of people who gave me a chance to prove myself as someone who has something to the contribute to the industry beyond being a consumer.
