🔌 Repair work completed! 💨 💪The hard work of our offshore team has paid off! Approximately four months after the cable that connects the Rentel wind farm to the Belgian mainland failed, the repair work has now been successfully completed – all without offshore wind production in the area being significantly impacted. 👷♂️Our offshore staff have been working amidst challenging conditions in the North Sea to fix a fault that emerged at the cable’s entry point on the platform. They have now replaced part of the faulty cable with a new 400 metre-long cable section. #EliaTransmissionBelgium’s meshed offshore high-voltage grid permitted electricity to keep flowing from the Rentel wind farm back to Belgium throughout the repair work. This is because the wind farm's export cables form part of Elia’s Modular Offshore Grid (MOG, or offshore power hub).
