The 9/11 attacks, the rise of the Islamic State, the genocides in Srebrenica, Rwanda, Cambodia and Nazi Germany were all historical events that saw incredible acts of human cruelty. They make us wonder: who are the perpetrators of these crimes and what drives them? Prof. Alette Smeulers (along with other scholars) examine these topics and more in the podcast series: "Terribly and Terrifyingly normal?". Over ons
The Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen is a modern, internationally oriented law school that has existed for nearly four centuries. As it measures itself amongst the best international law faculties in Europe, advanced systems of quality control have been implemented to continuously improve research and education. Although the Faculty has grown significantly since its founding, it has kept a friendly and informal atmosphere where good relations exist between staff and students. The Faculty offers a wide range of international law subjects and a large variety of specialized courses, and graduates are highly sought after in the professional world, with many using their international legal education in working with various local governments, ministries, political parties, multinational corporations, non-profit organizations, and even private practice. We invite prospective students, current students, alumni, and legal academics or professionals to follow us here for updates (in English) about the international activities of our law school.
