We are committed to reduce emissions and becoming net-zero, leading to a better, more sustainable world for future generations. To realise this, we are assessing our existing fleet and determining the right modifications for optimising energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The installation of the SCR systems is an excellent example of this strategy. SCR is an advanced emissions control technology. It contains a catalytic converter behind the engine which reduces nitrogen (NOx) emissions to an absolute minimum. ✅ Damen Shipyards Group was contracted to install the SCR system, based on their familiarity with the Nexus. This wind farm is equipped with the new generation of 15 MW wind turbines. Thanks to a recent upgrade, including a 25-metre extension of the gantry crane, the Svanen is ready to install the foundations for this next generation of wind turbines. Baltic Power is Van Oord’s first offshore wind project in Poland. Polish company ORLEN and Canadian company Northland Power have contracted Van Oord for the transport and installation of 78 foundations, consisting of a monopile and transition piece. With a capacity of up to 1.2 GW, Baltic Power will eventually supply sustainable electricity to more than 1.5 million Polish households. The Svanen, which recently underwent a major upgrade, has become one of the largest heavy lift installation vessels in the world. With its impressive lifting height and capacity, the Svanen is perfectly suited for operations in the Baltic region. ♻️ Read more about this milestone in our news release:https://lnkd.in/ekuVpwye #VanOord #Marineingenuity #offshorewind #Svanen

These innovative, scalable reef structures are a key step in restoring the European flat oyster population and revitalizing the region's marine biodiversity.      Key benefits of this breakthrough installation method include:   ✅The structures are lightweight and can be manually dropped from a small vessel, making them easy to install.  ✅ The installation method can be integrated into routine offshore wind farm maintenance, providing an affordable and scalable contribution to oyster reef restoration.  ✅ The attached adult oysters will reproduce, spreading larvae that will form new oyster reefs to boost biodiversity and improve water quality.      This is how renewable energy and nature conservation can go hand in hand. We're excited to monitor the impacts on the ecosystem!     Watch the video or get more insights into this groundbreaking project via our press release at vanoord.com.
