  • 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 🎉 As we reflect on 2024, we are thankful for the dedication and hard work of our teams across the world. Their efforts and ingenuity to enhance the energy transition and accelerate climate actions have driven our projects throughout the year. From installing oyster structures in the North Sea to boost marine biodiversity, launching our impressive offshore installation vessel Boreas, and growing our heavy lift vessel Svanen by 25 metres. 🛳️ Our team played a pivotal role in the successful installation of the final monopile for CrossWind’s Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, a significant step towards a sustainable future. We also completed major dredging and infra projects worldwide, including a significant one in Egypt, enhancing maritime infrastructure. As we celebrate this festive season, we want to thank our clients, partners and stakeholders for their support and collaboration. Together, we can build a better world for future generations. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and an ingenious 2025. To those still at work: we appreciate your dedication. Stay safe, and let's make next year even greater. 🚀

  • 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 🚢 Van Oord's dredging work in the Prinses Amaliahaven on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam has been successfully completed. The harbour basin has been deepened to 20 metres below sea level. During the peak of the work, 3 Van Oord vessels were working at the same time, turning the port orange-blue: cutter suction dredger Biesbosch and LNG-powered trailing suction hopper dredgers Vox Apolonia and Vox Alexia. The dredged sand was partly reused in the adjacent Prinses Alexiahaven, where Van Oord is working on a 45-hectare land reclamation project. The dredging works are part of the development of the Prinses Amaliahaven. Together with consortium partners HOCHTIEF and Ballast Nedam, Van Oord is constructing 2 deep-sea quays, an inland shipping quay and some earth-retaining walls. The development will potentially increase annual throughput capacity in the Port of Rotterdam by four million standard containers (TEU). #VanOord #MarineIngenuity #Sustainability #Dredging #PortDevelopment

  • 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝟮𝟵 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝘂, 𝗔𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗻 🌍    Last week, we were present at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This was our fourth consecutive year at the Conference of Parties. Our colleagues Viviana Franco Hernández, Mark Roelofs, Robert De Bruin and Paul Voortmeijer collaborated with the Ocean Pavilion and the Water for Climate Pavilion and connected with several organisations working towards the same goals. 🎯 We discussed various topics with multiple stakeholders, including accelerating climate action, enhancing energy transition, promoting biodiversity and Ocean Health by implementing ocean-based solutions like mangroves, and providing climate resilience for coastal communities affected by rising sea levels. 🌊 As Van Oord, we are committed to closely following the developments. We aim to translate these global discussions into actionable implementations, where we can contribute to a better world for future generations. #VanOord #COP29 #COP29Azerbaijan #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition

These innovative, scalable reef structures are a key step in restoring the European flat oyster population and revitalizing the region's marine biodiversity.      Key benefits of this breakthrough installation method include:   ✅The structures are lightweight and can be manually dropped from a small vessel, making them easy to install.  ✅ The installation method can be integrated into routine offshore wind farm maintenance, providing an affordable and scalable contribution to oyster reef restoration.  ✅ The attached adult oysters will reproduce, spreading larvae that will form new oyster reefs to boost biodiversity and improve water quality.      This is how renewable energy and nature conservation can go hand in hand. We're excited to monitor the impacts on the ecosystem!     Watch the video or get more insights into this groundbreaking project via our press release at vanoord.com.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫: 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 ✅ In order to restore the connection between the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer for migratory fish, a Fish Migration River is being constructed straight through The Afsluitdijk. The estuary on the Wadden Sea side has recently been completed. Via this estuary, the fish will be able to swim into the Fish Migration River. 🐟 Van Oord created the estuary and has been closely involved with its design. This design takes into account materials that became available from the dike reinforcement of the adjacent Afsluitdijk. Thanks to excellent cooperation with provincie Fryslân, we have realised the estuary using circular materials. This involved close cooperation with the contractor of the Afsluitdijk, construction consortium Levvel - project Afsluitdijk, (Van Oord, Royal BAM Group & Rebel). Completing the estuary does not mean that our work is finished. On the IJsselmeer side of the Afsluitdijk, we are continuing to work on the Fish Migration River. 🌊 You can read more about this special area in this article: https://lnkd.in/ee-Enifd 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴: 𝘙𝘪𝘫𝘬𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘢𝘵 | 𝘓𝘦𝘷𝘷𝘦𝘭 | 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘦 𝘍𝘳𝘺𝘴𝘭â𝘯 | 𝘛𝘰𝘱𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘪𝘦 #vanoord #marineingenuity #innovation #dutchinfrastructure #afsluitdijk #sustainability

  • 𝗦𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗼𝗿𝗱’𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 Our brand new offshore installation vessel Boreas has commenced with sea trials during excellent weather conditions. 👌 For a period of about two and a half weeks, the performance of the vessel and all systems on board will be tested extensively. Important tests are for example speed and turning tests and endurance trials. ⚓ After the sea trials, the crane of the Boreas will be tested. With this crane the Boreas will be able to lift over 3,000 tonnes. It will therefore be able to install the next generation of 20 MW offshore wind turbines at sea. Step by step, the vessel is coming closer to completion ✅ #VanOord #Marineingenuity #energytransition #installationvessel #wecreate

𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗴𝘆𝗽𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 We are pleased to announce the completion of dredging for two new port basins in Ain Sokhna Port. This project is part of a broader port expansion program designed to enhance the Suez Canal Economic Zone, aiming to make the Suez Canal a global hub for maritime transport. ⛴️ To create these new basins, approximately 21 million cubic meters of soil were dredged. Tackling the region’s hard soil required deploying our self-propelled cutter suction dredger Artemis and trailing suction hopper dredger Vox Amalia, supported by a versatile fleet. Together, they helped us achieve high productivity and efficiency. 👌 Ain Sokhna Port’s strategic location on the Gulf of Suez’s western coast, combined with significant investment, is transforming it into a major industrial hub. Soon, it will be the largest port on the Red Sea, supporting commercial shipping between Asia, Europe, and North Africa.
