In this week Peristaltic hose pumps Rollers vs Shoes,
Roller manufacturers claim using rollers to compress the hose reduce hose friction, heat and due to the smaller "foot print on the hose" higher flow per rpm (swept volume) and extended hose life.
Roller options does not require casing lubrication, a potential maintenance saving.
Peristaltic hose pumps using shoes does have significant advantages over hose pumps using rollers and here is a brief summary why,
The larger shoe "foot print" might slight reduce swept volume, but it drastically influence the liquid flow pattern that is beneficial when high viscus and solid laden liquids are transferred such as lime slurry, tomato paste, fruit puree or a high density mineral slurry.
Secondly, the larger compression area enable the shoe to press harder onto the hose for a suitable hose seal to withstand system pressure up to 16 bar, the limitation for roller options are limited to 7-8 bar.
Lastly, the shoe profile leading leading edge contact (and the decompression) the hose in a gentle manner manage pulsation.
A very important noteworthy point: The published peristaltic pump datasheets are based on laboratory test transferring water at 20 degrees Celsius. Datasheets should be limited to pump capacity only and not for pump selection. With the correct system design and "real" liquid properties there is a very likely potential to operate a peristaltic hose pump at full capacity and high pressure - it all depends on the application duty.
Always contact a trustworthy and experienced manufacturer for professional advise and traceable references.
Next week I discuss peristaltic pumps in application.

Proud to share that Verder B.V. has donated a Verderair VA40 pump to Vakwijs B.V., a leading vocational education center. With this pump, students can gain valuable hands-on experience by learning about pump principles and assembling and disassembling the equipment.
A special thank you to Stefan Van Steenbergen from Vakwijs for his dedication to this project, and to our committed account manager Laurens Hoep for coordinating this collaboration. Together, we are investing in the technicians of the future!

🚀 Exciting two-day training event at Packo! 🌟
Our team had an incredible experience diving deep into the world of Packo. We explored various technologies, including Lobe pumps, and took a fascinating tour of the factory. One of the highlights was disassembling and reassembling a few of our Packo pumps, giving the team a clearer understanding of the products.
The training was enriched by a diverse group of colleagues from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Poland. 🤝
A big thank you to everyone involved for making this an insightful and engaging experience!

In this week’s edition,
Peristaltic hose pump vs pumps.
1. In the world of high volume transfer a centrifugal pump will always exceed both commercially and economically.
2. When considering high density liquids with refined solids, pump options are limited to the application, for high volume “dirty water” liquids its a centrifugal win.
3. Polymer dosing? The traditional “go-to” technology a progressive cavity/helical screw pump is the most popular choice.
4. Considering high viscosity applications? A scew, lobe or gear pump will be the prefferred choice.
However, a peristaltic pump in high density refined solids, with high viscosity and low shear liquids with a linear controlled and accurate dosing requirement the technology excel! However, its all about the duty and the best technical sound pump technology and selection that matters. A peristaltic hose pump remain a diverse and reliable option. Chose wisely, a peristaltic pump will always remain reliable.

Diaphragm pumps, such as the 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐄 and 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐞-𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐄, are essential in the ceramic industry for handling harsh chemicals and severe process conditions.
Additionally, these pumps are 100% oil and grease-free, have no metal wetted or external parts, and operate with low noise emission, providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution for the ceramic industry.

The choice between 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬 and 𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬 depends on the specific requirements of the application:
- The nature of the fluid being pumped
- The required pressure and flow rate
- Maintenance considerations
- Cost implications

Did you know #peristalticpumps can be either hose pumps or tube pumps?
𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀 use a flexible hose to move fluid by compressing it, while 𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀 use a flexible tube in a similar way.
Both types are ideal for precise dosing, transferring viscous fluids, or handling chemicals. Hose pumps are commonly used in industries like mining and wastewater treatment, while tube pumps are often found in pharmaceutical and food processing applications.
At Global Pumps, we offer a wide range of peristaltic pumps and can recommend the best option based on your fluid, flow rate, discharge, suction line, power source, and accessories.
