"Yes, we migrated our SIEM, now we have 2!" 🥹 Over the last months we spoke to quite a few companies that started their path of migrating to another SIEM. In our case, the story was quite similar in many cases, users of either Splunk or Elastic wanting to move to Azure Sentinel. And it makes sense! High cost of ingest and the complexity of managing the data collection and processing. Plus, Microsoft integrated their own stack pretty well, I mean, who isn't using Defender... The reality is not so pretty though, all of the folks we spoke to ended up running both platforms, we kept on hearing the same things: 1️⃣ Moving over the data collection to Sentinel is hard, they don't make it easy for things like CEF or Firewalls, and it costs a bunch 2️⃣ No easy way to move over my customizations (obviously), and who has time for a complete re-implementation, even if you do it use-case by use case. 3️⃣ The cost of the "handover" phase is daunting, we want to ensure nothing breaks but to think about the cost of running ingest into two platforms at the same time... Bottom line, folks end up with 2 stickie platforms.
