VPS and Veracity by DNV partner to streamline MRV Reporting for Offshore vessels. The countdown to new MRV regulations has begun! Starting January 2025, offshore vessels over 400 GT entering EU/EEA ports must meet enhanced compliance requirements. This partnership Veracity by DNV will enable a seamless transfer of validated and checked operational MRV data from VPS’ #Maress system to the #Veracity data platform, where it is connected to DNV’s real-time data verification services. As Sveinung Økland of North Sea Shipping puts it:   “We collect all consumption data for our fleet in Maress and are excited that the validated and checked quality data in Maress automatically will flow to DNV for efficient verification. This week we hosted our annual industry Roundtable Meeting in Athens, to tackle the pressing challenges of decarbonisation. With the 2024 version of ISO-8217 marine fuels standards and ambitious EU emissions targets on the horizon, many of our customers are now knee deep in important strategic decision processes. From the complexities of alternative fuel availability and biofuel quality standards to the proactive prevention of bunker quality disputes, the event offered insights to support our industry’s transition toward low-zero carbon fuels.    Steve Bee, VPS Group Commercial Director, shed light on the shift to greener fuels and its implications.  Dimitri Kisil from West of England P&I Club provided actionable strategies to mitigate risks in bunkering operations.  Vasilis Koutsoumaris unpacked the latest changes in the marine fuel standards and their impact.  Iris Vamvaka from Hill Dickinson LLP shared contractual and legal insights and best practices.    The day was all about collaboration, with Q&A sessions and lively discussions. At VPS, we’re inspired to see the Maress Summer Campaign featured in the recent Riviera Maritime Media Ltd article "The ABC´s of Decarbonisation" by John Snyder as a standout example of collaboration and innovation in action. The 12 vessel owners in the campaign, and the crew on the 303 vessels, achieved remarkable results:  ▪ Reduced fuel consumption ▪ Cut 7,000+ tonnes of CO2 emissions  ▪ Fostered data-driven collaboration between operators and charterers  Through Maress dashboards and targeted advice, we supported participants in their decarb work, and we saw initiatives such as optimized engine use, improved battery utilization, and shore power usage—all while engaging in friendly competition to drive impactful change. Seeing this initiative creating positive ripples in the industry, and more vessel owners eager to take part, is a motivational boost. Enthusiastic Maress users and other companies in the offshore ecosystem met this week for the Maress #Sustainability Partnership (MSP) Event in Bergen. The participants shared decarb experiences and best practises💡e.g on how to best utilize a vessel with LNG-hybrid battery installation; trends seen by banks and insurers on data needs and decarb targets; the regulatory complexities on FuelEU and how digital tools and advisory services can make life easier; monitoring and optimizing the engine utilisation and efficiency gain in Maress. 💰🌿 The #Maress #MRV Reporting Module was launched, and the demo was well received. The new module supports automated data feed to DNV, Normec Verifavia and other accredited verifiers.
