Thank you for this inspiring post and for highlighting the importance of Regenerative Hospitality and Planetary Health in shaping a sustainable future. At Wageningen Metropolitan Food Clusters (WMFC), we are proud to have partnered with forward-thinking collaborators like Giethoorn Hospitality to drive the conversation around sustainable food systems forward. It was truly a pleasure working together to explore how the EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet can be seamlessly integrated into the New Dutch Cuisine, offering a blend of culinary excellence and responsibility. By promoting healthy eating habits that benefit both people and the planet, we can inspire real change. The piloting of innovative business models during the Inspiring Evening was a crucial step in demonstrating how food as a service model and hospitality can serve as key drivers in the global transition toward sustainable food practices. At WMFC, we remain committed to assessing and addressing sustainable development of agri-food production and consumption. We firmly believe that Planetary Health Gastronomy has the power to revolutionize not only what we eat, how we produce, but also how we approach "food as a service". We look forward to continuing this journey together, creating meaningful impacts for future generations. Together, we can foster a deep and lasting connection between food, nature, and society!
Planetary Health gastronomy part of regenerative hospitality Autumn resets our inner clocks trust the magic of new beginnings. It´s Wageningen dinner time! Regenerative Hospitality contributes to nature as the host and enriches our local community. It creates transformational experiences. Time to put healthy and sustainable food at the table and find out how to create impact with a successful planetary health Dutch gastronomy. In our journey together with Wageningen Metropolitan Food Clusters (WMFC) we found out regeneration is part of the new design of a healthy guest journey. We were thrilled seek to strike a balance between what we need and what our Dutch farmers can sustainably provide. The new Dutch Cuisine EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet we presented is part of a new lifestyle. And we managed to cook this together at the WMFC Association’s Inspiring Evening to make our shared commitment of promoting sustainable and healthy food practises work. Planetary Health is a powerful framework for finding this balance and challenging the global transition to provide food as a service. The last year we continuously worked out recipes and models to raise awareness about this diet including piloting an innovative business model. This model can make people profit from healthy food and creates a new way of food cost calculation. This is one of Wageningen Metropolitan Food Clusters’ (WMFC) and Giethoorn Hospitality’s (GH) shared commitment to promoting sustainable and healthy food practices. The dinner not only raised awareness about this important diet but also piloted an innovative business model that could revolutionize how healthy eating is promoted and funded. The EAT-Lancet Commission has proposed a reference diet aiming to promote human health and environmental sustainability. Bridging researchers in agriculture, water, nutrition, health, sustainability and operations to transform the food system in food as a service. Assessing what the Planetary Health Diet means for different food cultures, cuisines and clusters around the world. And our starting point is the New Dutch Cuisine. We try to indicate the environmental performance indicators, identify aspects that are missing, and guide the agri food and hospitality industry to a relevant indicator choice that captures the key aspects of the environmental impact. Although we focus on indicators that assess the environmental component of sustainability, we acknowledge that the concept of sustainability goes beyond environmental sustainability and includes a range of socioeconomic aspects that also need consideration when striving to feed future generations sustainably. Let’s educate and empower people to make a health choice. Trust the magic of new beginnings this is the message of nature in this particular season. And trust by offering good food for all we can foster a new generation of people who understand our relationship with, and dependency on, nature and embrace living.
