Last night, on 20 January, over 400 people showed up to an online gathering to celebrate 'Bioregional Hope', organised by the Bioregional Weaving Labs Collective. The participants represented bioregions from around the world and it was truly uplifting. All of them working on regenerating ecosystems and communities, restoring hope in the face of the polycrisis that is confronting us. And, I think, after the election and inauguration of president Trusk, this work is also about creating #safespaces that are connected with each other based on a foundation of decency and a desire for life to thrive. Wire Group has been working on #bioregions and will double down on this work in the coming years. What a week it was! Last week the Wire Group team was out and about: 🌱 First on a We Diligence trip to Portugal for the Wire Thrive Fund II 🐋 Then we had the honour of sharing our Thematic Roadmap on investing in Oceans to the Toniic's Ocean Impact Working Group 🙋♀️ On Thursday, together with Yield.Inc we hosted a group of aligned Multi Family Offices at our Home of Conscious Wealth to discuss "How to talk about impact" with their clients 📏 Finally, we presented our impact measurement methodology during the successful launch of the Impact Valuation Hub

Today Puck Hegeman and I were part of a round table hosted by Just Climate and Generation Investment Management on sustainability trends. A couple of key thoughts we took away from the event: 🍀 The transition is inevitable. It is not a matter of policy or politics, but of physics, biology and chemistry. And the science continues to show the need.   😤 While it is positive to see nature now included in the climate debate, we may have lost the human angle. Failing to take along the broader society, thereby alienating a large group of people. This has caused a large backlash. This is one of the reasons we at Wire Group decided to focus on both Ecosystem Healing and Human Healing in our Wire Thrive Fund. 📉 In the short term, the backlash will probably get worse before it gets better. And this makes it a great time to take action and make a difference. To think about how finance can serve society and not the reverse. 🙏 Thank you Natalie Arrieta, David Blood, Clara Barby, Siddarth Shrikanth for organizing this insightful event.

When we launched our first impact fund in 2019 based based on an investment thesis of 'regeneration', it was clear to us that we wanted to show how much 'natural and human capital' we were regenerating. Impact valuation was the way to do this. And we went one step further and linked our carried interest to achieving a minimum amount of societal vale creation. Fast forward 5 years and Wire Group is proud to be a founding member of the Impact Valuation Hub. This new forum for impact measurement will launch on 21 November! See below for more details...

As they get more familiar with the topic of sustainability and impact, wealth owners want more sophisticated information and advice."

Afscheid nemen doet pijn…. Wire Group levert al 14 jaar een bijdrage een bewuste economie middels workshops & trainingen, familie begeleiding en met eigen Impact fondsen. Afgelopen jaar zijn we een Cooperatie geworden om onze purpose nog meer kracht bij te zetten. Om goed voorbereid te zijn voor de komende jaren hebben we recent enkele wijzigingen doorgevoerd in onze governance structuur en team rollen. Nu deze transitie succesvol is voltooid én we inmiddels met ons 2e Fonds meer dan €30 mln hebben opgehaald hebben we in goed overleg besloten dat onze collega Paul Helmsing een nieuwe uitdaging gaat zoeken. Paul heeft zich de afgelopen 6 jaar met veel overtuiging en kennis van zaken ingezet voor de groei en professionalisering van Wire Group. We zijn hem daar heel dankbaar voor 🙏🏼 We gaan hem enorm missen omdat hij een heel fijn, oprecht en toegewijd mens en teamlid is met alle denk- en doe-kracht en de purpose-gedrevenheid die hij van nature inbrengt. We zijn er van overtuigd dat in zijn volgende uitdaging onze paden weer gaan kruisen.
