  • Thrilled to share feedback from Ilonka, HR Manager at Fokker-Elmo, highlighting our support for the transition of their 23 families to the Dutch school system. This project underscores our ability to smoothly facilitate large group relocations. Thank you for trusting us with such an important task! 'YES! has been of great value to Fokker Elmo in getting a large group of Turkish employees acquainted with the Dutch school system and assisting our new colleagues in finding a suitable school for their children. They provided a tailor-made information session for the entire group and continued with individual sessions to find the best schooling solution for each child. This has been of great importance for our new colleagues, getting their kids settled in their new country' Ilonka - HR Manager, Fokker-Elmo --- 👨👩👧👦 Our mission: Guiding families smoothly towards the right school choice when relocating to the Netherlands. • The Netherlands has 18 million citizens. Our population is growing, which unfortunately means specific sectors have waiting lists. Waiting lists in the educational sector: For example, there are waiting lists for after-school care everywhere in the Netherlands, which can take up to one year. There are also waiting lists for Dutch international schools, especially in the secondary departments. There are waiting lists for full-time daycares, too, but not in every city. We're here to assist families with navigating waiting lists for preschools, daycares, schools, language schools, or funded international schools in your desired area. With our expertise, we can offer tailored advice and help explore alternative options. --- 👨👩👧👦 Our mission: Guiding families smoothly towards the right school choice when relocating to the Netherlands. • In the Netherlands, the government largely funds primary education, so there are minimal direct costs for parents. Here are some typical costs associated with Dutch primary education: 1. School Materials: Parents might need to purchase school supplies, like books and stationery. Schools often list required materials at the start of the school year. 2. Contributions: Some schools may request voluntary contributions to cover additional costs for activities, special projects, or extracurricular programs. These contributions are generally optional but can significantly enhance the educational experience. 3. Lunch: Children bring their lunch. In-between-school care during lunch is provided. This involves supervision in the class and during outside play. The cost is around 200 euros per year. 4. After-School Care: Parents who need to arrange after-school care (BSO, or "Buitenschoolse Opvang”) can incur an additional cost. The cost varies depending on the provider and the number of hours required. Note: There are waiting lists for after-school care!! Overall, the Dutch education system is designed to minimize costs for basic education, ensuring accessibility for all children and providing support for parents. --- 👨👩👧👦 Our mission: Guiding families smoothly towards the right school choice when relocating to the Netherlands. • 🌟 The best 30-60 minutes you can invest Hear firsthand experiences like Rachel, who successfully moved and secured a daycare in her preferred area after attending a webinar and a one-hour call with our expert Eline. ✨ What Rachel Says: I first contacted Eline last year after hearing her speak on a podcast. I then attended a very insightful webinar about schooling options in the Netherlands. I was impressed with the information and registered for the one-hour call, which again proved incredibly useful. Fast forward half a year, and we were ready to move - I again reached out to Eline and explained our situation. Within days, she had secured a daycare for us in precisely the area we had hoped for. She has been very professional, friendly, and involved throughout the process. We are so grateful to have found YES and Eline - it has made moving a little bit less stressful. Thank you! 🙌 Thank you, Rachel, for your kind words! It was a pleasure assisting your family. 👉 Ready to start your move to the Netherlands? • Supporting a child in a Dutch school as an international parent without speaking Dutch can be challenging, but there are several strategies that help: 1. Stay involved with school communication: - Ask for English communication, some teachers or staff might be willing to communicate in English. - Attend parent-teacher meetings: Parents can request a translator or bring someone who speaks Dutch and English to help with meaningful discussions about their child’s progress. - Is there a problem with their child? If there is a problem with their child, it's adviced to email the teacher and ask for a meeting after school. - Translation tools. Many schools communicate via email or digital platforms like Parro or Social Schools. Tools like Google Translate can be a great help in this situation. 2. Extra language support: Some schools offer special Dutch language classes (NT2) for non-Dutch speaking children. Inquire if the child qualifies for extra lessons. 3. Homework: Children hardly get homework in Dutch schools, but sometimes there is extra reading work or geography. Families often ask a student or teenager in the neighborhood to help. This way, they can earn money, and a native speaker helps the child. --- 👨👩👧👦 Our mission: Guiding families smoothly towards the right school choice when relocating to the Netherlands. • UNICEF's research has highlighted that Dutch children are among the happiest in the world based on several key aspects related to well-being. In their "Report Card" studies, UNICEF assesses children's well-being in wealthy countries across multiple dimensions. The reasons why Dutch kids consistently rank at the top include: 👉 High levels of life satisfaction: surveys show that a high percentage of Dutch children rate their happiness and life satisfaction very high compared to peers globally. 👉 Supportive family and social environment: Generally speaking, Dutch families provide a nurturing environment with open communication, emotional support, and freedom for children to express opinions, fostering trust and security. 👉 Quality education and well-being in schools: Dutch schools emphasize not only academic excellence but also student well-being, ensuring a stress-free environment that supports both academic and social development. 👉 Good mental health: Dutch children enjoy better mental health with lower rates of anxiety, depression, and stress due to strong social support, balanced family work-life, and relaxed parenting and educational methods. 👉 Physical health and safety: The Netherlands offers excellent healthcare, nutritious food, regular exercise, and safe environments, contributing to the high physical health and safety of Dutch children. 👉 Balanced approach to freedom and responsibility: Dutch children are raised with a healthy balance of independence and guidance, fostering self-esteem and autonomy. 👉 Play and leisure time: Dutch society values leisure time, and children are often given ample opportunities for play and relaxation. These factors, as highlighted by UNICEF's findings, contribute to the overall happiness and well-being of Dutch children, making them some of the happiest kids in the world. --- 👨👩👧👦 Our mission: Guiding families smoothly towards the right school choice when relocating to the Netherlands.
