Community support – Zeelandia’s dedication to its communities At Zeelandia, one of our key annual goals is to serve the communities we are part of. We believe that by creating and participating in initiatives that make a real difference, we can bring meaningful change and enhance the well-being of those around us. A wonderful example of our efforts is the work of Sefco Zeelandia SA, which this month proudly achieved one of its CSR goals – Better for People. They partnered with “Galilee”, a relief unit that provides free care services to cancer patients and individuals with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Each year, they organise a market featuring handmade goods, sweets, and gifts to support patients and their families during difficult times. As proud supporters of this project, Zeelandia donated 70 cakes crafted by our finest bakers. Our colleagues also dedicated their time and effort to carefully package each one. We remain committed to serving and supporting our communities, including initiatives focused on physical and mental well-being. In late summer 2000, Zeelandia and the Dutch bakery industry celebrated the 100th anniversary of Royal Zeelandia H.J. Doeleman B.V. A week of festivities included an open day for employees and their families, with several valued partners from the bakery sector joining the celebrations. Over 2,600 bakers were warmly welcomed to Zierikzee, followed by a visit from 400 vocational secondary school students exploring the future of baking. Zeelandia Romania’s commitment to a greener future. This month, Zeelandia Romania proudly achieved a major milestone in its CSR goal – Better for the Planet. Partnered with Tomorrow's Forest we planted 7,000 trees across 1.7 hectares, contributing to the stabilization of soil in a previously affected area. More than just financing the €12,000 reforestation project, see in the pictures our colleagues rolling up their sleeves and joining the planting effort, demonstrating their great determination and passion for sustainability. Another event that made an impression in this decade was the fire at our Powder Plant II in April 1998. A lightning strike causes a fire and causes major damage to the machinery and the adjacent warehouse containing packaging and raw materials. The damage is enormous, but there is a tremendous drive to be able to resume production and supply the bakery as soon as possible.
