By producing organic fertilizer pellets in addition to green gas, VTTI reuses valuable minerals, helping farmers naturally replenish the soil and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. These bio-energy facilities significantly contribute to European sustainability goals, lower methane emissions from animal manure, and reduce nitrogen emissions, thus promoting clean energy and circularity. The new Finance Controller will play a pivotal role in achieving this ambition by monitoring RNG results and supporting and challenging the RNG business to optimize outcomes.

Finance Controller – Renewable Natural Gas F/M/X

Job Summary

The Finance Controller will oversee the financial performance and compliance of VTTI’s Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) business. This includes monthly reporting to both the RNG Leadership team and Group Management, managing the budget process, supporting and challenging the operational performance of the RNG business, and preparing annual reports. The Finance Controller will report directly to the RNG CFO and work closely with the CEO of the RNG business, other RNG business managers, VTTI's Group Reporting team, and other central functions. Externally, the Finance Controller will be the main contact for external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate the financial performance and risks of the RNG business, providing recommendations for improvement and developing key performance indicators, financial metrics, and benchmarks.
• Manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for the RNG business, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Provide financial guidance and support to the RNG CEO, CFO, and other business leaders on the performance of the RNG business.
• Assist with strategic decisions, investments, and business development opportunities by conducting financial modeling, scenario analysis, and due diligence.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies, overseeing audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting, including annual reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function, leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics.
• Operationalize service level agreements with other functions supporting the RNG business from VTTI's HQ until the business grows enough to have its own legal, IT, and HR support.
• Lead and develop the RNG accounting team, providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; RA, RC, or similar qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance roles, preferably in the renewable energy sector, chemicals sector, or related industries.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and mentor staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and communicate insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
• Proficient in financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting, using tools and systems such as Excel, Oracle Fusion, CXO Cockpit, and Power BI.
• Knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and practices, as well as tax and regulatory compliance requirements for the renewables sector.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to drive process improvements and innovation, leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics.
• Highly collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
