Financial Controller

Your Role

As a Financial Controller, you will join a Finance team consisting of 14 specialists, divided into two core teams: Operations & Compliance and Business Finance. You will be part of the Operations & Compliance team, taking responsibility for local financial audits and enhancing internal processes to ensure efficiency and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate reporting of business transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Implement and monitor internal control systems, evaluate their effectiveness, and report incidents promptly.
• Support month-end close processes in collaboration with team members.
• Coordinate the annual audit process, including the preparation of financial statements and related notes.
• Record, control, and report transactions within your area of responsibility.
• Provide documentation, communication, and risk-mitigating actions to facilitate internal and external audits.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations, explain variations, and address overdue items effectively.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, ensuring the validation of financial statements.
• Handle specific accounting topics in alignment with Dutch GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Maintain accurate financial reporting with a deep understanding of master data.
• Apply and adhere to group and local accounting norms and compliance standards.
• Prepare and provide financial reports to the group.

What We Expect from You

The ideal candidate has experience in monthly closing processes, forecasting, budgeting, and audits. You are organized, analytical, and proactive. Additionally, you meet the following criteria:

• A passion for sports.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance, with a background in financial controlling or internal auditing.
• Experience in a Big Four accounting firm is a plus.
• Fluent in English; Dutch proficiency is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
• A solution-oriented mindset, coupled with resilience under pressure.
• Analytical capabilities and a tech-savvy approach to problem-solving.
