𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Systems Engineering is crucial in the high-tech industry, as it integrates various components into cohesive systems. Experts Joost Dierkse from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Jos de Klerk from VDL ETG Eindhoven highlight its role in ensuring complex technical systems function efficiently. Systems Engineering requires both technical and soft skills, including collaboration and communication, to manage multidisciplinary projects. The Netherlands faces a shortage of systems engineers due to increasing product complexity and fragmented educational approaches. To address this, the DASE (Dutch Approach of Systems Engineering) program aims to standardize and enhance Systems Engineering education. VDL ETG and Thermo Fisher emphasize internal talent development and advocate for a standardized curriculum to prepare future engineers. This curriculum would help students gain a broad understanding of different disciplines and improve interdisciplinary collaboration. Both companies stress the value of seeing a fully integrated system in action and the need to inspire new generations. Systems engineers must look beyond their specific fields to contribute effectively to the high-tech industry.
