Our partnerships focus on knowledge-centered institutions around the world, supporting innovations in health information, research in developing countries, diversity in science and technology for development. They effectively align our programs to the key science, health and technology challenges, as outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Elsevier Foundation also provides matching funds to the charitable organizations employees personally support to encourage and support their generosity and community involvement. We are pleased to announce our first ever Impact Report! In our new Impact Report “Changing the face of global research”, we share data showing that access to research through Research4Life spikes research output by up to 75% in low- and middle-income countries. In addition, this data shows a clinical trial uptake of 20%. The Impact Report also tells the critical story of how we have been transitioning from our original mission of content donation to fostering reciprocal engagement, in order to nurture rich and diverse scholarly exchange, sharing case studies showing where work from the Country Connectors program has made a difference in promoting local publishing. Thanks to funding provided by The Elsevier Foundation through TWAS – The World Academy of Sciences my colleagues (Dr. Daniela L. and MSc. Madeleyne Villa) and I were able to start our project in Sajama National Park on climate-resilient rural communities and women. We participated in a management committee meeting, where we presented our project to the 5 communities and women of the Sajama National Park. Additionally, we interviewed women from 5 communities that are part of the National Park. The questions were about the effects of climate change and the role of women in making their communities climate resilient. We also collected water from the Bofedales (highland peatlands) to evaluate water quality. In addition, we would like to thank our host institution Agua Sustentable for all their support.
